Good mtg w/Min 4 Nature @COSullivanTD & @NPWSIreland & BirdWatch team. We presented him w/the 1st #BirdAtlas of UK & Ireland for period 1968-1972 @_BTO @juliet_vickery. We also asked him to designate our seabird IBAs as SPAs as per Art 4 of the Birds Dir.

On July 3 2025 World Seabird Day, BirdWatch Ireland launched its Important Bird & Biodiversity Areas for seabirds in 🇮🇪 map. All info is here birdwatchireland.ie/ibas-for-seabi… including interactive map. We're calling on govt to designate these areas as SPAs & update data on existing SPAs.

A lot of progress made this week in Nice, France to advance ocean protection. The most impressive announcements came from small island nations (aka large ocean nations) such as French Polynesia. Sadly, Ireland had no announcement at all. #FairSeas irishtimes.com/environment/cl…

Unfortunately @MichealMartinTD didn't make any new commitments to protect Irish waters at #UNOC2025 Countries are announcing ambitious new plans throughout the week and we hope that this will encourage others to follow. However, good news as more countries ratify the #BBNJ
