Today, @FAOEthiopia’s Representative @ZimudziFarayi and @AfDB_Group’s Deputy D.G for East African Region Leandre Bassole agreed to collaborate on agrifood systems transformation, leveraging their respective comparative advantages to drive impactful change.

The African Network of Agricultural Policy Research Institute visited @FAOEthiopia & @FAOEastAfrica to bolster collaboration on policy analysis in Africa to: 🔹Inform value chain prioritization & investment 🔹Promote learning & exchange of experiences 🔹Capacity development



Today, @sjtu1896 School of Agri. & Biology - faculty & students met with @FAOEthiopia & @FAOEastAfrica to discuss @FAO's efforts in East Africa & ETH. They explored opportunity for young professionals to contribute to #Zerohunger & support Food Systems transformation & #Nutrition



The @UNBiodiversity team met with @FAOEthiopia to discuss key issues: · Integrating #biodiversity into Agri @FoodSystems · Promoting #SustainableGenetics resources · Addressing threats like #climatechange · Domesticating global agreements · Fostering knowledge & capacity building



The two-day @FAOEthiopia #CPF review & planning identified priorities for @FAO work in 🇪🇹, alignment with nat'l. priorities & the #UNSDCF ensuring quality delivery. #Partnerships & #innovation were marked as key enablers to ensure a sustainable #FoodSystems Transformation in Eth.




@FAOEthiopia kicked off the Country Programming Framework (#CPF) Review Meeting today in Addis Ababa. As the 2022–2025 CPF cycle ends, FAO aligns with Ethiopia’s new #UNSDCF (2025–2030). #FAO & Partners will reflect, learn & shape priorities for a sustainable @FoodSystems in 🇪🇹.



The heads of the Rome-based #UN agencies in Ethiopia, @FAOEthiopia, @IFAD and @WFP_Ethiopia, met with the @FoodSystems to discuss preparations for the #UNFSS+4 Stocktake (27-29 July 2025) to be held in #AddisAbaba. #OnMyPlate #UNFSS2025

Thanks to @Sida's funding, @FAO is providing supplementary animal feed (Total Mixed Ration - TMR) in the Somali region to mitigate anticipated drought impacts, support livestock health & protect assets, ensure milk supply for children & lactating mothers during the dry season.


Livestock vaccination to address the negative impacts of anticipated droughts have been accelerating in the Somali & Oromia regions, Ethiopia. Today, @FAO & partners vaccinated small ruminants in Ayun district, Somali, against identified diseases, thanks to @Sida for the funding!




Supplementary animal feed distribution is underway in the Somali region, #Ethiopia, as part of @FAO’s #AnticipatoryAction. The project aims to safeguard livestock assets of vulnerable communities to droughts & sustain core breeding stock productivity. Thanks to @Sida for funding.




With funding from @Sida, @FAO supports mitigating the negative impacts of anticipated drought on vulnerable pastoral communities in Oromia & Somali regions, Ethiopia. Key actions: Animal vaccination & treatment, training animal health workers & #CAHWs & distributing animal feed.



Over 2 days, the #InnovationPolicyLabs (IPL) in Addis Ababa, supported by @FAOInnovation & @MinistryofInno2 & brought together policymakers, researchers & startups, exploring evidence-based policymaking for agrifood systems. IPLs support startups & shape inclusive policies!




Innovation Policy Lab (IPL) project launched in Ethiopia! Led by @FAOInnovation & @MinistryofInno2, it aims to transform agrifood systems through inclusive, evidence-based policymaking. Integrating IPL with ETH’s Startup Policy to support agritech startups & youth-led innovation.

Sidama Region Govt committed to effectively implement the “Strengthening Agrifood Systems for Safe & Healthy Diets” initiative. @FAO organized a workshop to refine the action plan to ensure that safe, healthy & sustainably produced diets are available & accessible @EU_Commission
