The biggest streaming era victim is even Olamide not Davido, we have people doubting his legacy ‘cause of streams.
That particular account gives positive reviews. One I can clearly remember is Breathe of life, Eyimofe, Femi Adebayo's movies and KOB 1 and it breaks down the whys
Exactlyyyy and every year they do a best films of the year highlighting the stuff they really liked.
Very many: Freedom way Eyimofe The original KOB Ojukokoro With Difficulty Comes Ease A Tribe called Judah All Three Zikoko shorts Even Breath of Life had mostly positive critique.
All of this is inspiring me to write a piece about the divide between the general audience and critics working for Nigerian publications media react to movies and how that gap causes a rift between Filmmakers and these critics.
4.5 is incredible generous for an 8 hour long series where the only redeeming factors were the acting performances.
So this was how I got into acting. It’s not a pivot, it’s an intersection. God Engineering #FreedomWay
I’ve come to realize this world would rather build memorial museums and regale tales of horrific human rights violations and war crimes than to…. simply stop genocides and acts of terror and evil while they are actually happening.
I agree with this. The Nigerian audience has countless options, they’ll watch K-dramas, C-dramas, bootleg Hollywood. But when critics try to help reshape the industry, they’re called haters, and the filmmakers lap it up. Meanwhile, the films don’t cross over and make no money.
The unfortunate thing is that the Nigerian audience is the weapon fashioned against that crossover. They enjoy movies like Sinners from Hollywood, but have no vision for Nollywood beyond languishing in mediocrity. Even black diaspora no send us again. True local champions

Nollywood is made for only Nigerians and na why e no dey crossover.
I'll be here thanking God and Zikoko for soft and beautiful men. Ogranya and Andrew Bunting, may your waist continue to be oiled o🙏
This Sunday on Nollywood Film Club, we're discussing the Zikoko life shorts. This should be a fun time. Book your seats here 😩😩 x.com/i/spaces/1MYxN…
Yes, in fact Youtube is a great example of the model and its success. A specialised platform for Nollywood could be what the industry needs. At least theoretically.
This is great news! I wonder why no streamer works on Advertising-based Video On Demand (AVOD). That'll make it free for viewers and get higher viewership while making money through ads. Also I don't think Nigerians would mind a couple of commercials in exchange for a subscription
Nollywood’s distribution is shifting and as international deals decline, film stakeholders are building new ways to reach audiences locally and internationally. We break down these locally-formed strategies in our latest article. Read here: bit.ly/4nXq1z8
Also: Self defense is a comprehensible kind of murder but there’s nothing like self defense rape. Rape crimes is the most traumatic experience ever that’s why during war, women kill themselves and burn their corpse (necrophilia) just to avoid SA
This too. It also helps that they have that deal with HBO. So we get to watch a good catalogue of HBO movies, movies that have gone to the cinemas. Also, access to movies around Africa.
And we are yet to see what Canal+ does with Showmax. With such power, there's a lot that can be done with Showmax alongside their other Canal+ products. I guess no one wanted to wait to see first.
Yup they would have told you that William Benson was in Ajoche and co so he was already a star
I remember we had this conversation when I said every "star" needs that one breakout movie to make them one.
Numbers don’t lie! ✨ The last time I witnessed such a significant surge in followers due to a movie release was when the YouTube film "Love In Every Word" became popular. @uzorarukwe gained over 100k followers in just one week. All it takes is one project!

Saw Williams Benson IG go from 4k plus to 30k plus and Bucci also went from 69k to 129k followers and still counting. That’s what a blockbuster project is supposed to do for you. Measurable impact. 😎
