Folks, told 'ya 48 hours ago. The wheels are now coming off. Please always listen to #Japanese trade and negotiating experts with years of experience in this field. Don't listen to the spinmeisters, carnival barkers, and Johnny Come Latelys to Tokyo. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
A singular focus on China isn’t helping the U.S. in Asia. To be relevant, says @EvanFeigenbaum, the U.S. “needs to speak to the goals and aspirations of Asian countries themselves.” More from Evan on Pacific Polarity with @real_jerseylee and @richgrayer: pacificpolarity.substack.com/p/evan-feigenb…

2. The most controversial KMT legislators, who have been vilified non-stop for the last six months, not only survived the recall, but won emphatically. I would expect them to come back with a vengeance before I expect them to now want to play ball with the DPP.
Update: Taiwanese voters appear to be rejecting *all* the recalls, in what looks to be the biggest electoral win for the KMT since 2018
Big day for Taiwan’s democracy today as voters decide whether to recall two dozen KMT legislators. This explainer by @tchau01 highlights what's at stake. asia.nikkei.com/Politics/Taiwa…
