Albania is getting closer to joining the EU – but it has to do more 🇦🇱🤝🇪🇺 MEPs welcome progress such as Albania fully aligning with the EU’s foreign and security policy. However, protecting the rule of law, fundamental rights and combatting corruption demand improvements.
Georgia cannot join the EU until its government changes its authoritarian course. The European Parliament stands with the Georgian people. Parliament does not recognise Georgia’s current government and says its EU path is effectively suspended until fair elections happen.
North Macedonia can get closer to joining the EU, but it needs to act. Parliament fully supports North Macedonia’s EU goals, e.g. the country’s ambitious Reform Agenda. Still, strong reforms including constitutional changes and anti-corruption policy are needed for its EU path.
