@EuamIraq trained Law Enforcement Force Command commanders on human rights-based crowd control and introducing a dialogue-driven approach. The workshop supports Iraq’s shift towards citizen-focused policing within Civilian Security Sector.

@EUAMIraq facilitated a meeting between H.E. the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari and the Cdmr of the @IraqNato, MG Christophe Hintzy. There was a clear understanding that both Missions play a crucial role for the Minister and have his full back up. #SSR

@EUAMIraq launched a Train the Trainer programme at the Police College in Erbil to support police academy instructors in delivering courses on community-oriented policing to regular police, parole officers, and first-line responders in the Kurdistan Region.

As part of its ongoing support to strengthen Iraq’s institutional capacity in countering violent extremism, @EUAMIraq conducted a session on presentation techniques for participants in the Train-the-Trainer programme with the Criminal & Intelligence Training Institute of FIIA.

@EUAMIraq organised the second round table on protection of cultural heritage to foster sound and comprehensive approach among the main actors such as FIIA, SBAH, MoI, INTERPOL, and KRG representatives.

@EuamIraq and @UNESCOIraq discussed trafficking of cultural heritage and possible future cooperation. 📌Key topics: strategy against trafficking, possible law revisions, and enhanced collaboration between internal and external actors to protect cultural heritage.

@EUAMIraq participated in a strategic meeting organised by the Iraqi National Security Advisory (NSA) and the National Counter-Terrorism Committee (NCCT) to discuss updates on the new Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Strategy 2026-2030.

@EUAMIraq’s and FIIA training programme strengthens Iraqis' resilience against violent extremism across the country. 1st handover ceremony took place in presence of MG Basim Karim, Director of the Intelligence Institute at the MoI congratulating the recent graduates.

@EuamIraq is facilitating a series of workshops with the Border Ports Commission, supporting the development of a multi-year strategy aligned with Iraq’s 2024–2028 Border Management Strategy. The sessions use tools like SWOT & GAP to strengthen planning, security, trade, & travel

Desertification & drought exacerbated by climate change are threatening Iraq’s stability, forcing displacement & straining resources. With 92% of land at risk, restoration is vital. @EUAMIraq supports integrating climate risks into Iraq’s National Security Strategy.

@EUAMIraq welcomed a German MoI delegation led by Tom Krumm, Head of the Mission Support Division. The visit included meetings with key partners, including the MoI’s Training and Qualification Directorate. The delegation reaffirmed their support.

Deputy head of @EuamIraq Ralf Schroeder met with Deputy National Security Adviser Dr. Zaidan Khalaf Al-Atwani at ONSA to explore closer cooperation on civilian security sector reform. Discussions also focused on supporting the implementation of Iraq’s National Security Strategy.

The Head of @EUAMIraq, Anders Wiberg, received the outgoing Commander of @CJTFOIR, Brigadier General Olivier Celo, before the end of his tour of duty. Both sides discussed issues of mutual interest and updated each another on their activities.

@EUAMIraq delivered a 3-day course on Modern Strategic Leadership in Erbil for 25 officials from across the KRG MoI. The training enhanced leadership skills in planning, stakeholder and risk management & communication. It supports Iraq’s SSR efforts, focusing on good governance.

A delegation from EUAM Iraq led by Ralf Schroeder, Deputy Head of Mission, received a courtesy visit from H.E. Marianne Bolger, the Ambassador of Ireland to Iraq based in Jordan (@irlembjordan). Both sides discussed their respective activities and topics of common interest.
