I had a great time today helping out at the Body Machine Interface station at @wustl_pt’s @BiomechanicsDay. Thanks to @MDHarrisLab for organizing a fantastic day and for Jie Fie for leading our station and getting students excited about IMUs and rehab science!!

For centuries, paleontologists have had to rely on intuition re whether reconstructed joint poses "look right." Today in @NatureComms: we created a way to formalize & test that intuition, & discovered that articular surface interactions distinguish locomotor poses in dinosaurs 🧵

Why do YOU think the arch recoils? Our new study in @FrontBioeng uses high-speed x-ray to show that arch recoil is critical to propulsion because it orients the ankle upright. Arch recoil increases contact time, likely to generate propulsive ankle power more efficiently. 1/5
