Everyone who maintains a commitment to liberal or progressive politics will eventually arrive at this conclusion, even if they have to be dragged there kicking and screaming by historical circumstances, because it is undeniably true
👀 Zohran Mamdani on why he refuses to recognize Israel as a ‘Jewish’ state: “I'm not comfortable supporting any state that has a hierarchy of citizenship on the basis of religion or anything else…. Equality should be enshrined in every country in the world. That's my belief.”
The real scandal is not that @ZohranKMamdani has consistent principles, it's that so many US politicians — who campaign on advancing equality and democracy — feel constantly pressured to declare their unquestioning support for an apartheid state. The hypocrisy is transparent.
Every apoplectic response to this is a tell. The subtext of this gotcha question is that Israel's apologists want its right to exist as a Jewish *supremacist* state to remain unchallenged. Good on @ZohranKMamdani for being clear that equal rights for all should be a no brainer.

World leaders can make as many statements as they like opposing Israel's actions in Gaza. Until they end the sale of weapons to Israel, they remain complicit in the mass murder of Palestinians. Stop arming genocide, now.

"For Israel, Hamas’ disarmament is merely the pretext; The real goal, as Netanyahu himself admitted, is to render Gaza uninhabitable, ungovernable, and ultimately unpopulated — a war on the very existence of Palestinians in Gaza." @muhammadshehad2 writes: 972mag.com/israel-demand-…
Listen to a top UN official describe the horrific humanitarian disaster in Gaza right now: "I can tell you from having visited...death on this scale has a sound and a smell that does not leave you." History will never forget that we enabled this atrocity.
jerry, it's time to retire. you're threading a needle with a billy club.
My statement on the Columbia University protests yesterday:
The humanities-denigrating, STEM-affirming, and neoliberal-university-promoted idea that the reason to pursue education is to enhance one's career potential rather than to learn to think and create for oneself is a big part of why ChatGPT has such appeal. nymag.com/intelligencer/…

The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, which began 82 years ago today, is now universally hailed as a bold act of Jewish resistance against the Nazis. But at the time, many Poles watched — or cheered — as the ghetto burned. The parallels with Gaza are hard to ignore. jacobin.com/2025/04/warsaw…
