Thousands of power outages out there due to this afternoon's severe storms. Here's the latest numbers as of 4:05 PM.

The Heat Advisory has been cancelled for most of our NE Illinois counties. Remains in effect until 10 PM for all counties highlighted in orange. This may be cleared early as storms bring relief from the heat.

NEW WARNING: east central LaSalle, southern Kendall and northern Grundy until 4 PM. 60 mph wind gusts possible.

FLOOD ADVISORY: Cook, DuPage, Will Counties until 5:30 PM. Flooding may occur due to excessive rainfall. Thunderstorms are producing 1-2" of rain in 30 minutes. Additional rainfall amounts of 1-2" are expected over the area. Do not drive through flooded streets!

A line of severe storms capable of 60-70 mph winds extends from the north side of Chicago southwest to Yorkville. Torrential rain, damaging winds, & frequent lightning. Seek shelter if within an orange box (severe thunderstorm warning).

NEW WARNING: Central Cook County is now under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 3:30 PM for 70 mph wind gusts. Seek shelter now!

NEW: A Severe Thunderstorm WATCH has been issued for all counties highlighted in yellow until 9 PM.

NEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING: Southern DuPage, south central Cook, and northern Will. 70mph wind gusts possible. Seek shelter now!

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING: Kendall, NE LaSalle, SE DeKalb, southern Kane. Severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Hinckley to near Leland, moving east at 35 mph. 60 mph wind gusts possible.

The Extreme Heat Watch has been replaced with a HEAT ADVISORY. This goes into effect at 10 AM on Wednesday until late Thursday evening for most of Chicagoland. For DeKalb, McHenry, and LaPorte Counties -- the Heat Advisory is set to expire Wednesday night at 10 pm.
