It’s that time of year where people start getting their internship plans together in clinical and counseling psych. This whole process can feel pretty mysterious. @Russ_Marks and I put together a handbook to help demystify it a bit. It’s available free psychlabs.colostate.edu/emery/resource…

Check out the new episode of @AddPsychPodcast with Dr. Squeglia. Really enjoyed our conversation on the effects of substance use on the developing brain.

🎉HNY🎉! Many people use this time to redefine their relationship with substances. For some, that may be abstinence. For others, it may be utilizing more protective behavioral strategies (PBS). Learn more about PBSs in an episode from our archives here: open.spotify.com/episode/2qst4T…
Unfortunately, academic inflation and toxic productivity culture has all but done away with this. The effects of this on science advancement will be seen for generations. Slowing down and thinking deeply is essential to solve complex problems and it’s undervalued at every level.

Absolutely heartbroken to know I live in a country that thinks my daughter is a second class citizen. That puts profits over people. That cares more about tax cuts than the climate crisis, education, or mental health. Deeply saddened. And while we may recover, I will not forget.
To all those submitting internship apps in clinical, counseling, and school psychology, today is a big day. Celebrate this win. I know there are miles to go before you sleep and it’s a true accomplishment to get apps over the finish line. May the odds ever be in your favor.
I will be reviewing applications for the @UNMPsychDept clinical psychology PhD program this fall. Our lab is currently in an exciting period of growth, and we are looking for applicants interested in substance use to join us! More here: bonessaddictionslab.wordpress.com/prospective-gr…
This part of the process is wild. That’s why we wrote a grant to fund applications for your internship cohort this year. At least there isn’t the expectation of travel to the sites anymore. While very informative, it was like 5k when I did it.
$500 to submit the application for the AAPI??? 😭 How is this equitable when we’re required to complete an internship to graduate?
