Finished the day by winning the Martin Garner Spurn Young birder of the year senior category!
Absolutely insane day at @spurnbirdobs for Migfest. 4 lifers, which were Wryneck (finally!), Red Backed Shrike, Pallid Harrier and Ortolan Bunting! Also Wood Warbler, Pied and Spotted Flycatchers, Redstarts, Bonxies, Whinchat, Merlin, Manxies, Tree pipit and so much more!
🚨❤️🤍 BREAKING: Viktor Gyökeres to Arsenal, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties involved. Sporting accept last bid from Arsenal for €63.5m plus €10m, agent will reduce his commission. Gyökeres will sign five year deal at #AFC. He ONLY wanted Arsenal. 🇸🇪
Another decent day on Patch at Walthamstow Wetlands. Finally, Patch ticked Coal Tit which are pretty scarce here! Also, the Garganey reappeared, another Whimbrel, 29+ (!) Common Sandpipers, Yellow Wagtail and more!

The torrential rain today didn't produce anything on Patch at Walthamstow Wetlands this morning but yesterday was pretty good. 2 Whimbrels and this Silver-washed Fritillary! The Frit was my first here and the first I've ever heard of here since I've started patching the site!

Great to find this Garganey on Patch at Walthamstow Wetlands this morning. Only my 2nd here and my first since 2022! Also finally saw my first Dunlin of the year here, Common Sandpipers, Common Gull, Lesser Emperor, 3 Red Kites, Lesser Whitethroat, and more!

Nice to see my first 10 Lesser Emperors of the year yesterday on Patch at Walthamstow Wetlands! Also Small Red eye, Lesser Whitethroat, probable 1st-summer Common Tern, Common Sandpiper, and more.

Good day out at @RSPBMinsmere yesterday with @DavidWalsh22. Little, Arctic, and hundreds of Sandwich Terns were nice to see! Also White Admirals, SW Fritillaries, Purple Hairstreaks, Waders, Bittern, Bearded Tit, and more! Video shows Arctic, Sandwich and Common Terns.

A hot slog round New Hythe today was rewarded with a massive count of no less than 58 Lesser Emperors!
A male Red-veined Darter and a Norfolk Hawker from a quick visit to Patch at Walthamstow Wetlands yesterday! Tried to find some Lesser Emperors but no luck though conditions were suboptimal.

Came back from my Gold Dofe expedition in the Cairngorms yesterday. Managed to see a Crested Tit which was a UK lifer for me! Also, Osprey, a pair of Black-throated Divers, Crossbills, Red Grouse, Golden Plover, Snow Buntings, Dippers, and more!

LMU Juv Peregrine on tower this evening. Also saw a pair of Peregrines interacting over Holloway Road on weekend. Couldn't tell whether they were the parents or adult and Juv. @annierockiow @LdnPeregrines
It was a good weekend for insects on Patch at Walthamstow Wetlands. Found another Red-veined Darter, this time an adult male! Also had my first ever Scarce Chasers here, Norfolk Hawkers, Common Darters, Marbled Whites, and lots of other nice butterflies!

Our Juv Peregrine was on the tower this morning. Nice to see! @annierockiow @LdnPeregrines
Since I've been back from the Camargue, I have been, of course, making regular visits to Patch at Walthamstow Wetlands but generally not seeing much. Cuckoo, Hobby, Great Black-backed Gull with chicks, lots of fledged passerines, Norfolk Hawker and Broad-Bodied Chasers.

Some more bits and bobs from the Camargue. So lovely to wake up to Redstart, Nightingales, Cirl Buntings, Sardinian Warbler, Woodlarks, Serin and so much more singing each morning!

I haven’t seen the chick since yesterday morning. If anyone is walking down Holloway Road please can you see if it’s on the ledge at the front of the tower. Many thanks
Back from a great 5 day trip to the Camargue led by @LolBodini. 4 lifers being Melodious Warbler, Iberian Grey Shrike, Gull-billed Tern, and Collared Pratincole! So many Nightingales and all the regular species down there. Beautiful scenery and weather as well!

Another solid week on Patch at Walthamstow Wetlands. Found an Osprey yesterday, which was a Patch tick and my first in London! Also, Little Owl, Redwing still, Cuckoo, Common Sandpipers, Oystercatcher, Yellow-legged Gull, Lapwing, lots of Odonata action and more! #patchbirding

Just found an absolutely stonking male Collared Flycatcher at Creachan, a species I've been dreaming of finding for years! This is the first for Barra and the third for the Outer Hebrides.
Had a brilliant visit to Patch at Walthamstow Wetlands yesterday afternoon. Found this Little Gull and a Ringed Plover, the latter I've only heard here before, so to actually see one is great! Today produced Cuckoo, 3 Black Terns, Lapwing, Greenshank and Redwing. #patchbirding
