I was born with two legs.
Typing to think Mind has a landing strip for truth. Truth can arrive in different vehicles. Lies can ONLY arrive via brainwash tactics. Truth can arrive in what looks like a brainwash vehicle (art, Sunday school, story) but doesnt rely on these tactics, can be reached by reason.
Fiction's in a weird place both above and below our criticism. Below because it's our craft of sub-creation, and above because we depend on it as a sort of grace, a gift from the Grandfather of Art (i.e. God per Dante). Like the Angels they're above us but we will "judge" them.
"Show, don't tell" has constipated my style, addled my wits, and arrested my progress long enough. I'm the boss of my story, and I'm writing it how I write it. Stories that lasted and stuck with people were written ages before "Show don't tell" became a thing. To hell with it.
The right answer to "do you prefer Latin Mass or Norvus Ordo" is "Yes, I'm Catholic."
I know a hunter who can shoot deer sighting with either eye. You know why? Because he's Bambidextrous
I'm not following anyone who posts a question and then says "Be honest."
Lots to be learned on the power of limits from the BBC Radio comedy Cabin Pressure (starring BCumberbatch pre-fame). 4 MCs interract hilariously in different combos on a tiny jet. Tight setting, small cast, lots done in little time, nice and compact. Great writing.
Right: One person by himself can't be "diverse." Even if he's half-something. Being half-something doesn't mean you're "diverse," it means your family is diverse. You can add diversity to a group, but you can't be "diverse" just cos you're not white, it's not grammar.
"King" is such a good word. King King King It's a great word this morning. I'm vastly enjoying it.
What's the difference between allegory and analogy? Do they overlap?
Word of the day: Abhorable Sounds like a compliment. Isn't.
Unsolicited thought: We don't know the color of Huck Finn's or Elizabeth Bennet's hair. Which tells me Mark and Jane both thought, "It's fine if the reader doesn't picture these folks exactly as I do." That takes some pressure off, far as I'm concerned. Carry on
I see posts asking, "What dyou think of the Pope." "What dyou think of Latin Mass." Honestly, there's a point where my preference isn't relevant. There's so much stuff available, I can choose my favorite of whatever - food, book, Mass - why? Say Grace, eat, say thanks, shut up.
I'm glad other people hate "show, don't tell." 🤪 A few years ago, I made rules of thumb for self in re that. Some of it's obvious, don't know if I agree with it all hundred-percent now. "You have become the thing you swore to destroy" is telling the arc. What do yall think?

Getting off social media for a mo, but I need to have the last word on everything that's annoying me right now. here goes: Both TLM and NO are valid. Some of yall are jerks. I'm hungry. I have the best taste in movies and I'm always right. God bless the troops on Memorial Day.
Wanted to share this - Audible sometimes lets you look at chapter lengths (in minutes it takes to read). When I'm worried about my varying chapter lengths, I sometimes check these out. This is East of Eden. Some long, some short. Both good.
