My first NHS psychiatrist said I wasn’t autistic, I just had high social anxiety (spoiler: he was wrong). The first question my second NHS psychiatrist asked my mum was ‘has she been assessed for autism?’ Reliability of diagnoses vary within the NHS too. #Panorama

My autism assessment was private. My ADHD assessment was NHS. Neither diagnosis is more valid than the other. My private autism assessment was done by a highly experienced psychiatrist, psychologist and speech and language therapist, all of whom had previously worked in CAMHS.
