Following my surgery in Girvan yesterday I went along to the Summer Cosy Spaces event at the Girvan Community Garden with @ElaineStewartMP followed by some doorknocking around the town.

Trip to see the new creative hub on Barhill Road, by @CumnockMensShed and @NestWellbeing The charities raised over £450k to renovate the space, an inspiring collaboration which will be a great spot for local artists and makers. I look forward to its opening in early September.

I was saddened to hear of Councillor Mark Dixon's passing today, an asset to South Ayrshire Council, he will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences go out to his daughter, family and friends.

Dropped in to see @CumnockJnrsFC Summer Holiday Football Camp. Fantastic initiative run by @ScottishFA and @scottishgas which gives kids the opportunity of free football, active outdoor fun and lunches too. A great support for families this summer⚽

It was delightful to visit Little Peru yesterday, and meet the Kelly family and their flock🦙⛺ An impressive project which is already very successful, I was pleased to hear about their future vision and renewable energy generation.

Yesterday I met with @fbunational to discuss the effect proposed changes to the fire service could have in areas of Scotland. The Scottish Government is proposing cuts of up to 13 fire stations, so I spoke to the Union to discuss public consultation before any changes.

A Scottish Labour government will invest in Scotland’s hospices and raise hospice-based doctors and nurses pay to NHS levels. @jackiebmsp

For my constituents in Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock, Nationwide is running free dementia clinics. You don’t have to be a member to make an appointment with an Admiral Nurse. They can help with understanding the diagnosis, financial and legal issues, emotional and bereavement support.

Great news to hear @AeralisJet have chosen Glasgow Prestwick, our local airport, to build the Red Arrows if awarded the contract. This would bring hundreds of jobs and opportunities for our local economy💪✈️

On Armed Forces Day, the Labour Party says thank you to all those who serve.

I was proud to be in the room to witness the approval of a Special Tribunal for Crimes of Aggression against Ukraine signed by Zelensky and Council of Europe. Too many have suffered from Russia’s unlawful invasion and those responsible should be prosecuted.
