Also, Thomas Dongan (an Irish catholic) served as the Governor of New York from 1683-1688.
Despite bad faith actors (like Matt Forney) trying to paint Irish catholics has “Eilis islanders”. Irish were part of the founding stock. The “father of the American navy”,John Barry, the commander of Calvary, Stephen Moylan and also General Sullivan were all Irish catholics.
Irish Surfer Gearóid McDaid has just won gold for Ireland at the European Surfing Championships in Portugal 🇮🇪 We’re planning a huge homecoming for the local hero Sligo 🥇
A must do for the Gaelic Revival is the de-Dublinification of Ireland, a restoring of a population density of that on the left. Dublin is as big as it due to being the core of the Pale and is an artificial creation of British rule.
“A view of Ennis courthouse” painted in 1820. Pre-“Famine” Ireland was a bustling place, ripe with political insurrection. Quite handy for the British authorities that the “Famine” happened.
Again, here’s Quin abbey in Clare destroyed by Cromwell army in 1650, massacring the monks. By letting it rot we are allowing Cromwell to have the final say on our history
Similarly the jewel of Munster the Rock of Cashel is left in ruin. Destroyed by Cromwell then an Anglican Bishop. The Freestate’s decision to leave it ruin lets Cromwell have the final say on our own history. Restore now!

Italy has Dante Greece has Homer Germany has Goethe Rome had Virgil England has Shakespeare Who does Ireland have? Joyce? Pearse? Céitinn? Ua Laoghaire? Yet to come?

Saw this beautiful painting today. Made me very sad though. It’s called a view of Killmallock. Painted in the earlier 1800s. Tragic seeing the Irish peasantry living among the ruins of their ancestors. Literally watching our history rot.
Why are so many prominent new right figures Irish? Keith Woods, Micheal McCarthy, Uberboyo. Something in the Gaelic blood perhaps? Also they tend to not be anonymous accounts either.
Gaeltwitter mentions Peadar Ua Laoghaire and his great modernist works like Séadna a lot but I never see anything about Pádraic Ó Conaire (my cousin 3x removed) and Deoraíocht. Why? Is it not good?
