Came up short on my dream but that’s the name of the game. I been beat the odds. I poured everything into and I can look myself in the mirror everyday. I still get to do what I love to do at a high level and take care of my family. That’s all I can ask for.
But I had that mindset in college and I was playing. Never went out or partied before a game or practice. AND STILL TO THIS DAY GO BY THAT! I never been a follower. You don’t need anyone else to hold you accountable but yourself.
I don’t even think I went out at all my first 3 years in the NBA. In my eyes how does it look for a player not getting consistent minutes to be seen coming in the hotel at 3 am. There’s no way I can show them I’m serious about this. Keep the main thing the main youngins!!
Before I left to college, I remember making a promise to myself that I would always keep the main thing the main thing. If I didn’t make it, it would’nt be because of anything outside of basketball. Truthfully, that separated me from a bunch of people.
