📢 New preprint from the lab! CRISPR-screening wizard 🧙 🧬 @TSchwammle figured out how different signals 🚦 are integrated at the Xist locus. See his tweetorial below. biorxiv.org/cgi/content/sh…
Climate experts were increasingly saying that keeping heating below 1.5C is near impossible, yet it remains the global goal. So I asked hundreds of top IPCC scientists what they thought. What they said shocked even me… 🧵 1/n #ClimateCrisis

Together with PhD student @AlexandraMMar we wrote a News&Views @NatureGenet about the new paper📜 from @xielablife. A stunning data set on the 3D chromatin structure of the X chromosome in early embryos reveals unexpected large-scale structures: 🐭🧬🔺🔺nature.com/articles/s4158…
One of the X chromosomes in females is silenced with a microscopically distinct chromatin configuration. Happy to share our latest work on deciphering how the X chromosome folds during its inactivation for the first time in mouse female embryos! nature.com/articles/s4158…
Our new work is out today! Long time in the oven, this has been a really fun and informative collaboration led by Dhanur Iyer in my lab and @HK_Heidar from @NRivron lab. We show that human embryonic cells have an inherent potential to regulate their developmental timing.
Don't miss Daniela Cecalev @cecalev's review on "Compensation of gene dosage on the mammalian X" together with Beatriz Viçoso and myself, for a comprehensive look into X upregulation and inactivation! ⬆️⬇️ journals.biologists.com/dev/article/15… With support from @FRM_officiel and @laliguecancer
Ready to lead your own research team-?😎The Max Planck Society offers you the chance to head an independent Research Group at a participating Max Planck Institute of your choice - the next open topic call starts on Sep 9, 2024. Stay tuned for updates!🌟 mprg.mpg.de
if you are passionate about the therapeutics of the future and want to be part of the 'RNA revolution' apply for this project in our lab: we want leverage the latest AI models for the prediction of potential small molecules targeting RNAs in the cell! t.ly/BjO5o
Congratulations, Valerie!!
New job, starting next summer! Extremely excited to join the extraordinary scientific environment at @UniBasel and the @DepBiomedicine.
📢 WE ARE HIRING! We offer a position as Research Technician in Stem Cell Biology to work in sex differences in neurodevelopmental disorders and human X chromosome inactivation. More info: werkenbijerasmusmc.nl/en/vacancy/100…
on unimodal setpoints and how to get them from synthetic promoters... tweetorial coming soon... or see you next Thursday #SEED2024 in Atlanta... Stay tuned for more control systems coming soon...

It was a pleasure to write this review together with @nellykanata and Rachel Duffie @sneexish from the Lomvardas lab on the principles that govern monoallelic expression of olfactory receptors and Xist for @Dev_journal
Establishment and maintenance of random monoallelic expression In this Review, @nellykanata, @sneexish & @EddaGSchulz @MPI_MolGen give an overview of the regulatory mechanisms and current models for establishment and maintenance of monoallelic expression: journals.biologists.com/dev/article/15…
Ever wondered how 3D chromatin rewires during differentiation? We wanted to understand this process better & distinguish if different processes or elements drive this rewiring. To do so, we used mESC=>NPC differentiation and focused on a single locus. biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 1/17
Mary Lyon FRS was born #OnThisDay in 1925. Lyon was the discoverer of X-chromosome inactivation, which the genetic process that leads to coloration like tortoiseshell cats. Read more about her discoveries in a new @RSocPublishing biographical memoir: royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rs…
