So far this July the average temperature in San Francisco has been 59.1°. Shockingly this doesn’t even crack the top 50 coldest Julys on record in SF. Most recently 2021 was colder. Coldest July on record is 1901 at 55.7°
Since June 1st San Francisco has only seen FOUR days with temperatures warmer than average this summer. “Hottest” day so far was last Thursday at 77°.

Welcome to the longest day all year today!! With the summer solstice occurring this evening we will see 14 hours 46 minutes and 55 seconds of daylight today. We start losing daylight tomorrow heading towards the winter solstice in December.
WARM & WINDY MONDAY Offshore winds will create a sunny and warm Monday. Most of us will be going into the 80s later this afternoon

Today is the first day this year our sun will be setting after 8pm! Our latest sunset all year is 8:35pm around the summer solstice. Next time our sunset is before 8pm is not until mid August🌇

“In effect, the scientific backbone and workforce needed to keep weather forecasts, alerts, and warnings accurate and effective will be drastically undercut, with unknown —yet almost certainly disastrous —consequences for public safety and economic health” -@ametsoc re: NOAA cuts
The 2026 budget passback plan calls for eliminating NOAA Research, the scientific backbone that keeps weather forecasts, alerts, and warnings accurate and effective. This would have disastrous consequences. Read the AMS statement, in partnership w/@nwas: bit.ly/4cz2RtC
Is your kids little league game rained out this weekend? How hot is the next heatwave? You know how anyone or any machine predicts that info? Every single forecast begins with upper air observations. It’s like Google trying to serve you relevant ads without AdSense You can’t
Upper air observations may just go missing now because of the Trump Administration's budget cuts and forced retirements. This could significantly (not just minimally) degrade weather forecasts from your apps, your TV mets, etc. etc. weather.gov/media/notifica…
Our sun is now rising before 7am. Our next sunrise after 7am won’t happen until late September. Earliest sunrise all year is 5:47am
BYE BYE RECORD HEAT A dramatic cooldown hits us today after a couple of days of record warmth. Daytime highs will be 15° to 25° cooler this afternoon compared to yesterday. Our marine layer will be back with some pockets of drizzle along the coast.

San Francisco just hit 80° today for the first time this year. On average the first 80° day of the year happens in early May so we are running ahead of schedule. Earliest 80° day on record was on February 12th 1996.
RECORD WARMTH CONTINUES We are getting ready for another afternoon of record warmth today! Rough surf continues along the coast for our area beaches. Sunny skies and high UV index this afternoon. Tree pollen also remains high for allergy sufferers.

OFFICIAL HIGHS TODAY Oakland 84° San Francisco 79° San Jose 81° Santa Rosa 84° Napa 82° Redwood City 83° Hayward 80° Half Moon Bay 81° Concord 80°
RECORD WARMTH TODAY It's going to feel a lot like summer this afternoon with highs in the 70s & 80s! Records are likely with temperatures 10°-20° above average. Be aware if heading to our beaches we have rough surf and strong rip currents. UV index is high, slap on that sunscreen

Tomorrow and Tuesday will be some of the warmest weather since last October. San Francisco will possibly see its first 80° day of 2025. Widespread 70s & 80s means we likely hit a few new records for this time of the year.
