Be a traveler. Not a tourist. Not everything is supposed to make you comfortable.

“The wise warrior avoids the battle.” — Sun Tzu
Do not think about leaving behind a legacy. Do not strive to change the world around you. But do the right thing. Do what’s moral. People will remember you as someone who was just. The world will change itself. THAT is your legacy. Fight the good fight. Because it’s worth it.
“Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those general and emperors so that in glory and triumph they can become the momentary masters… of a fraction of a dot.” — Carl Sagan

“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.” — Ernest Hemingway
What I wouldn’t give to get that thumbs up one more time. Miss you, Abu ❤️

The hardest thing in medicine is being a child and a doctor and seeing your parent(s) decline yet there’s nothing you can do to help them. Except carry their legacy forward — disseminate their kindness into every heart and body we touch ❤️
What no one prepares you for after the loss of a parent is the guilt that you could have done something to prevent it. Especially being a doctor. How come I couldn’t protect one of the most cared for persons in my life, my mom? Is this common? Does this go away?
