Yesterday’s @pintofscience event - what a triple bill! Huge thanks for such a wonderful engaged audience, and I’m sorry we made some people cry with our data. It’s these young people’s voices…they are powerful stuff! @EducationSheff @yuezhou214 @DrAParrish and Jess Bradley
Watch back 👉🏽 Languages for All? The Push and Pull of Policy, with @DrAParrish. Exploring how education policy, including EBacc and P8, has impacted language learning in schools across the UK. zurl.co/TKU6V
I really enjoyed @JohnGRoberts in @tes looking at MFL in schools and the curriculum review, and it prompted me to put this together for @thisis_school with some extra detail on some of the key points: thisisschool.com/blog/ch-ch-ch-… @EducationSheff
Interested in what might be the next wave of curriculum changes in #MFL, as reported here (tes.com/magazine/news/…) by @tes? 🤔 Then take a look at our article and webinar with @DrAParrish which explores how we got here in the first place 👇🏽 thisisschool.com/blog/languages…

Are British pupils bad at learning international #languages? @DrAParrish argues they're not. The education system just doesn't prioritise #LanguageLearning as much as other countries. Read more: tinyurl.com/y4w4tm9p #Linguistics #LinguistTwitter
My birthday present to myself has arrived....but is it supposed to be upside down?! @DavidNWriter @SceptreBooks
Loved this article by @DrAParrish - confirms my belief that linguistic aptitude is not absent in UK students, but the environment & culture that surrounds us is too centred around a single culture/language. Not healthy for building a globally integrated & diverse society!
Whether or not British students have a mystery “inability” to speak international languages, they are hamstrung by a school system that offers them fewer hours’ international language tuition compared to other nations. theconversation.com/young-people-i…
The issues raised in this article by @DrAParrish will sound very familiar to global/international languages teachers in the Australian context. Thank you for sharing @LouisaField2
English speakers aren't "bad at language learning". This rhetoric is such a cop out and gives students another excuse to not learn a language, making the job of language teachers so much harder! Great article from @DrAParrish theconversation.com/young-people-i…
