If you’ve ever loved someone who has suffered dementia, if you’ve lived with them, if you’ve watched them slip away you’ll know the pain of this. But when they find their way to the surface it’s something else. It may be for #OnlyAMoment...but what a moment.

Where did this idea that because someone is a politician that they are “fair game” for abuse come from? If we applied that logic to any other grouping we’d be absolutely hounded, and rightfully so.
Blimey, BBC Four, what have we done to deserve this? Next Wednesday 30 July, the late evening schedule is devoted to THREADS and THE WAR GAME, two of the most horrifying and bleakly depressing films ever made. There will be documentaries, too. Get the snacks in!
Trump: It looks like it’s about $3.1 billion Powell: I’m not aware of that. Trump: It just came out Powell: You just added in a third building Trump: It’s a building that’s being built Powell: It was built five years ago. 🍿🍿🍿
Right decision.
🚨🇫🇷🇵🇸 BREAKING: French President Macron: “I have decided that France will recognize the State of Palestine.”
It’s late, but I had to write. We have to keep speaking up, and we have to speak the truth. Even when cowards threaten freedoms, let the truth be known. People are dying. In agony. This is the reality of Gaza. Where does it end? #SeditiousCriticism #Gaza #Palestine

What @eastantrimmp (bizarrely) refuses to acknowledge is that the genocide in Gaza will not end until the Palestinian people are obliterated, because they are not seen as humans in the eyes of Netanyahu and band of his merry men. Disgraceful
The war in Gaza could end tomorrow if Hamas release the remaining hostages and agree a ceasefire. Rather than a focus on recognising a state that would be controlled by terrorists, the Government should be standing with Israel.
Actor Jeff Daniels on Donald Trump’s 2nd term: “We’ve lost decency. We’ve lost civility. We’ve lost respect for the rule of law. We’ve normalized verbal abuse. We’ve normalized bullying. Out the window goes character, integrity. We’re supposed to elect the best of us, not the…
If I have learned anything from this movie it is that they chose…poorly.
I can feel myself rotting…👵🏻🤦🏻♀️😜🤣🖤
Disgraceful. @StephenAtHome has walked a fine line of satire and exposed Trumps nonsense for what it is. Huge loss
Breaking News: CBS will cancel “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” next year, retiring a franchise that lasted more than three decades. nyti.ms/4lus6Rz

“In the cab ride… she asked me 72 times, ‘where are we going?’” Journalist Martin Frizell, married to former GMTV presenter Fiona Phillips, talks about the progression of his wife’s Alzheimer's. #Newsnight
I am deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and injury caused by the military attack on the Holy Family Catholic Church in #Gaza. I assure the parish community of my spiritual closeness. I commend the souls of the deceased to the loving mercy of Almighty God, and pray for…
So much pain. So many around the world are hurting right now. We need to acknowledge our woundedness, and our shared humanity. We are all suffering. Where is Hope to be found?
The Holy Family Church, the only Catholic church in Gaza, was struck by an Israeli shell on Thursday morning, resulting in several injuries, including the parish priest, Father Gabriel Romanelli. Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, told Vatican…
In the same thread as before, a new verse taken from a rather wonderful encounter. Sickness may steal much from any of us, but those most cherished memories lay hidden somewhere. We just need the tools to find them. #BlueSatin #dementia #kindness @gymforthesoul

Five years later and I return to this subject of dementia. Much like the repeated conversations that happen in a short space of time. Every moment precious, though painful. Still, it demands dignity. #HiyaSon @gymforthesoul

What a truly grotesque image: burning the effigies of migrants - who the organisers ensured all had brown skin. Even from the perspective of the loyalists involved, this is stunningly stupid: it might be a migrant's vote that swings a border poll. (Photo by the great @Kscott_94)
The word "gaslit" gets thrown about a lot at the moment, doesn't it? Its something that's quite severe and serious, but can't help but think its been diminished a bit.
Every day is a chance to start anew. Every chance a golden opportunity. Those of us too young to remember should listen to the voices of those who can. Powerful words Jim.
I wrote this poem a few weeks ago and offered it into the middle in the 4 Corners. It fees more pertinent now. @MartinJMagill @DominicOReilly @EamonnMallie @mandy_mcauley
