We like to imagine that we could never be wrongfully charged with something. But it happens, and it happens way more than we should be comfortable with. It could happen to you, and you'd be damn glad to have a good defence lawyer in your corner if it does.
Also, even though the law specifically requires a presumption of innocence, the media and public often apply a presumption of guilt. If you're not guilty, why were you charged? If you're not guilty, why are you sitting in the guilty person chair?

The cops aren’t gonna investigate into exculpatory evidence. Oh that person can vouch for you? Cross them off the list. Oh your phone shows where you were? Won’t look at that. “Truth” or “getting it right” isn’t an incentive to them. They only risk ruining their own case.
Once someone is wrongly convicted of a crime, most people move on. The wrongly convicted can't. Fighting for freedom can take years, even decades. They don’t have the luxury of giving up. And neither should we. #StandForJustice #FreeRichardAllen #FreeSandraMelgar

Exactly. He’s shipped off. No eyes on him by his counsel, counsel doesn’t do SM so we won’t hear a damn thing and Kathy has either given up or is shielded by the evil ones so we won’t get a truthful vision of how he’s really doing.

I’m a literal nobody who just wants real answers and thinks that giving more people more information makes more people more informed, which has the added benefit of centering fundamental principles rather than personalities. That’s where my head is at bc that’s what I care about.
