People with #PSC can experience an infection of the bile ducts (called “PSC flare” or “cholangitis attack”). If you're a PSC patient who's had an attack or flare consider filling in this survey, helping us improve care and develop treatments. buff.ly/3Ut2DeQ @PSCPartners

Farewell to our registrars and fellows for 2024. We had a lovely evening tonight celebrating their time with us. We wish Peter, Brigid, Peter, and Jacob all the best in their onward career journeys

It is a pleasure to be here to celebrate five decades of SASMOA, the voice of our state’s medical officers. Our medical professionals are second to none, bringing world-class skills and a lifetime of knowledge to bear at the most vulnerable moments in a person’s life.
SASMOA 50th anniversary drinks tonight (South Australia Salaried Medical Officers Association). Inspiring speeches from our president, David Pope (no photo) and our Premier, Peter Malinauskas, about the state of our current state health system.

Congratulations to mentor and colleague, Professor Jane Andrews for being awarded the Distinguished Researcher Prize at #AGW2024. A truly remarkable accomplishment!

Masterful Bushell Lecture by @NickPowellLab on his IBD mucosal immunology research - specifically, looking at IL-22 and its role in IBD - predicts response to ustekinumab, unregulates neutrophil attracting chemokines, among others. #AGW2024

Prof David Thomas inspiring at the National Press Club today - clinical trials, even at early Phase I level - can offer evidence based hope for those diagnosed with cancer.
Today: Prof. David Thomas, Chief Science and Strategy Officer of Omico, Director, Centre for Molecular Oncology, University of New South Wales, Head & Genomic Cancer Medicine Laboratory, Garvan Institute of Medical Research, will Address the #NPC on "Cancer: the modern plague".
Terry Cheuk-Fung Yip from Hong Kong presents at #EASLCongress that changes in LSM reflect disease progression & regression in patients with MASLD and are predictive of liver related events. Whilst only 5% progressed, 30% change (at median 15 months) seems to be the magic number.

Bajaj presents DBRCT of FMT (oral/enema/combined/placebo) in HE. FMT causes dramatic reduction in HE and liver-related outcomes, but not hospitalisation or death. Does rifaximin influence engraftment though? Maybe - lower engraftment rates than anticipated...

Register for this interesting update with my esteemed colleague, @EmmaCulver6 , discussing the latest from EASL, direct from Milan! I’ll be attending EASL virtually this year (heavily pregnant!) and will miss seeing everyone in person. Aussies - 1pm GMT should be late evening
Registration for our June Ask the Expert live webinar is now open. We'll be joined by Dr Emma Culver to discuss the latest PSC research and news from the International Liver Congress. ➡️ buff.ly/4dLEt8a #LetsBeatPSC #PSCExpert
Another therapy in our armamentarium for pouchitis. Having said that, only a small prospective open label study, but nevertheless promising. EFFICACY AND SAFETY OF USTEKINUMAB FOR CHRONIC POUCHITIS: Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology cghjournal.org/article/S1542-…
What a wonderful IBD and Liver team I have at Royal Adelaide Hospital. They threw me a surprise baby shower today in my final week before maternity leave. 🥰

My colleagues at LiverHealthPOD just released their latest podcast - this one on PSC. It is an excellent overview of the topic for those who want to know more about the disease from experienced clinicians. podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/liv…
