Discovering Jesus

Love my Bible and Love my Church but finally discovering the words and mission of Jesus. Past long-term Elder of Presbyterian Church - ECO.
This guy seems to worship a literal interpretation of scripture instead of worshiping Jesus our Christ. Jesus intentionally chose a Samaritan woman at the well for leadership and to preach his gospel to her village. Jesus chose a woman to be one of the first evangelists!
Women don't need degrees. Especially theology degrees. You should delete your account, try being silent, and learn from your husband as scripture commands.
Is scripture clear? If you stand behind biblical literalism, does your church take the stand that women are to remain silent in church? Is it disgraceful for a woman to speak in church? Did the Holy Spirit write this or is it simply an opinion of Paul to a specific community?

This is so true @AndyStanley “I will be the face, voice, and hands of Jesus to everyone he places within my reach!” Jesus summed up the Bible with these commands - love God and love others! Love alone is how others will know we are his disciple and follower!
"God works through proximity. Keep your eyes open to who he puts in your path. The barista who knows your name. The coworker who lingers after a meeting. The neighbor you keep bumping into." Billy Phenix
Jesus IS NOT the Bible. The Bible has an inspired purpose but is not and has never been synonymous with Jesus. Jesus did not send the Bible to guide us in all truth - he sent the Holy Spirit and continues to speak and reveal his word found in scripture, prayer, people, music …
Jesus IS the Bible. Jesus IS God. So the Bible is HIS word. It’s NOT a compilation of opinions of men. And if read and interpreted through the “Jesus filter” you will find that nothing written by Paul or Peter or Jude or James or Moses, etc, contradicts what Jesus said 2,000…
Danny must think that Jesus is dead. The Bible is terrific but was closed 2000 years ago. Jesus is alive today and continues to speak and divinely inspire others to write his word. “I have much more to tell you…” If you are seeking the truth, ask the Holy Spirit!
Looking for answers? Start with the Bible. It's the only divinely-inspired source on Earth.
Great examples of how people of “faith” have used a literal interpretation of scripture as a weapon to harm, marginalize, exclude, or oppress others. We do not worship a literal interpretation of scripture. We worship Jesus our Christ!
Don’t you love it when someone says, “The Bible is clear!?”
I do follow Christ. And He is the reason that I cannot remain silent. I will continue to shine His light into your darkness.
You are a judgment upon the world from God in our fallen state. Follow Christ, be silent.
Jesus never said scripture is our authority. Jesus claimed ALL AUTHORITY! The Bible was closed 2000 years ago. Jesus is alive today and continues to speak and reveal his divine word through the Holy Spirit!
The second you decide that some parts of scripture aren’t authoritative, is the second you start down the path to apostasy.
Amen @JustinBerkobien Jesus preached the good news gospel and knew that his kingdom would be a significant threat to the religious elite and Roman rulers and would result in his murder. But, Sunday would come… Why was Jesus killed?
When Jesus was pressured to side with a political group he chose the poor oppressed and unrepresented instead.
Why was Jesus sent? None of the 4 gospel authors ever record Jesus teaching or preaching that God is owed a debt and that his blood will pay the price for our forgiveness. Jesus never taught that. Jesus proclaimed the good news gospel that the kingdom of God had arrived!

Any faith that stands behind a literal reading of scripture to support exclusion or oppression is replicating the views of Pharisees and is completely void of the way, the truth, and the life of Jesus our Christ.
This is another example of the brainwashing from the reformed faith. What does Jesus teach about atonement, forgiveness, and redemption in the parable of the prodigal son? The Father fully atones, forgives, and redeems the son with no debt paid and no blood required.
Fundamentally false. Scripture tells us that no one who lived and died before Jesus entered heaven UNTIL Jesus blood was shed on the cross. The people whose sins Jesus personally forgave STILL needed the blood of Jesus to be shed to receive salvation.
What is required for salvation? Jesus has dinner with Zacchaeus and declares - “salvation has come to this house.” If you thought salvation was dependent on the payment of blood on a cross, Jesus says no! Follow Jesus. He was sharing the gospel & saving people before the…
Why were thousands who sat on a hillside in Galilee saved, transformed, and born again by the good news gospel that Jesus shared? Jesus proclaimed that the kingdom of God had arrived and that they were so loved that God had adopted them into his family and kingdom!

God so loved you that he sent Jesus to proclaim the good news that the kingdom of God had arrived and to adopt you to live according to his way, his truth, and his life. The verse does not say that God demanded violence and the blood of a human sacrifice to forgive you.
These are rules made by men… What did Jesus teach about atonement, salvation, forgiveness, and justification? In the parable, Jesus teaches that the Father fully atones, forgives, justifies, saves, and redeems the prodigal son with no debt paid and no blood / sacrifice needed.
The moment you were saved you were Justified, A one time event. You are being Sanctified daily and that's a life long event.
In 2016, the PCA finally repented from its sins of racial segregation. The churches that currently point to a literal reading of the Bible to condemn same-sex love are the same churches that defended slavery as Biblical. Opposing slavery was liberal to southern Presbyterian…
I love scripture but which scripture is true @Chad4328 Is Exodus true of are the words of Jesus true? Jesus quotes from Exodus and modifies it with his grace and truth. Jesus is telling us that not all words found in scripture contain his grace and truth!
All of scripture is about Jesus and is Jesus teaching not just some red letters.
