Welcome to the world after Pax Americana
Thailand and Cambodia exchanged fire on their border Thursday in a sharp escalation of their conflict that killed at least nine civilians. Both nations accused each other of starting the military clashes and have downgraded their diplomatic relations since Wednesday.
Can the UN send a peace-keeping mission around the distribution sites? Like. . . .immediately? (I'm not sure how this works).
Why does it matter if Hamas is hoarding aid? Why not just flood the Gaza Strip with so much food that flour is no more valuable than it is in the US? Then they just have a bunch of flour. Not a mechanism for maintaining control.
Low. Human. Capital.
SCOOP: The Pentagon is suspending participation in think tank events until further notice, per an email obtained by @politico, a major shift in engagement. It comes a week after DOD pulled out of Aspen Security Forum citing “the evil of globalism." politico.com/news/2025/07/2…
Don’t actually care it’s just a question of what the two sides would agree to. I support a two-state solution but have no investment in the precise boundary line.
Where do you think the border between the two states should be?
Diplomatic recognition of the PA obviously undermines Hamas. Don’t like the PA, fine and there’s certainly a lot to dislike. But if you loathe Hamas and want a two-stage solution as I do you should see this as good.
Emmanuel Macron says France will recognize a Palestinian state. The official announcement will come at the UN General Assembly in September.

Absolute clown show. Lindsay Graham earning his keep as a Trump loyalist
BREAKING Lindsey Graham and John Cornyn are urging Pam Bondi to appoint a special counsel to investigate former President Obama, his senior staff, and Obama administration officials to determine “the extent to which [they] manipulated the U.S. national security apparatus for a…
Lapid has lately been actually criticizing the Netanyahu government more and more on foreign policy issues, even if only mildly—he acknowledges that we need far more aid for the people of Gaza. A good sign that their political capital is waning:
It’s time for Israel to put a clear public proposal on the table - end of the war, return of all the hostages, significant increase of aid to the people of Gaza and an end to Hamas rule. It is a proposal the vast majority of the people of Israel support. It is a proposal the…

There is no Israeli policy of starvation. That doesn't mean that 1) there isn't the threat of starvation or 2) Israel couldn't do more/is acting correctly. The situation on the ground is a problem of distribution. Stop lying. The lies do not help the people who need the aid.
This is evil. The Israeli government is starving children to death. There is no possible justification for these policies or for any other government supporting them.
I didn't shrug, first of all. Bad decorum, there, on your part. Hamas is absolutely an issue when it comes to Palestinian civilian welfare, including aid distribution & civilian death, & the fact that you deny this entails you do not care about Palestinian civilian welfare.
Palestinians aren’t starving themselves to death or firing missiles at themselves while trying to get food. How are you like “shrug…why aren’t you blaming Hamas when Israeli missiles are killing innocent men, women & children?” How about we condemn the terrible actions of both?
Breaking twitter hiatus to say: We are entering a very grim phase of the war in Gaza. The price of flour has skyrocketed, suggesting genuine shortages. Hamas is making outrageous demands, knowing that the worse it gets for Palestinian civilians the more leverage they have. 1/
There have been tremendous lies told about Israel’s war. That doesn’t mean the threat of starvation isn’t real. It is. My latest in @TheFP discusses new research on the price of flour in Gaza, and why it’s a real cause for concern. thefp.com/p/the-price-of…
There was a successful aid distribution mechanism for most of the war. It’s not credible to say that there weren’t other options for Israel with less harm to civilians.
“You have to give up or we will let all our people starve” cannot be allowed to be a successful strategy.
Both sides of Hanlon's Razor. Bernie Sanders' vetting was incompetent, whereas Trump's is malicious.
the Sanders 2016 campaign continues to deliver, nearly 10 years later
Why would they? Netanyahu created a situation that gave them enormous leverage: Israel can either withdraw from Gaza now with nothing or fight on leading to a catastrophic famine and losing the support of the West.
We have decided to bring our team home from Doha for consultations after the latest response from Hamas, which clearly shows a lack of desire to reach a ceasefire in Gaza. While the mediators have made a great effort, Hamas does not appear to be coordinated or acting in good…
