Incredible milestone from #UKBiobank! Congratulations on scanning 100,000 participants. This unprecedented imaging resource is already transforming dementia diagnosis and research. Proud that #DPUK contributed to this journey that will benefit patients for generations to come.
100,000 Participants scanned ✅ We are delighted to have completed the world's largest whole body imaging project, scanning the brains, hearts, abdomens, blood vessels, bones and joints of 100,000 volunteers.
🧠 NTAD study shows MEG brain scans can reliably detect Alzheimer's and track changes over time. This breakthrough could reduce the cost and time needed to develop new treatments. Research by Yasir Widatalla and Cara Alcock involved 150 participants. zurl.co/i9XHZ
🧠 DPUK's work on synthetic data is transforming dementia research. Lewis Hotchkiss demonstrates how AI can accelerate discoveries while protecting privacy—a significant advancement for early detection and treatment. Read more: zurl.co/e1MIZ
New study suggests dementia rates declining in younger generations, but data limited by: • High-income country data only • Prediction models vs clinical diagnosis • No socioeconomic analysis Global projections still show cases rising to 139M by 2050 zurl.co/rMp4q
Surprising discovery: Healthy newborns have higher levels of Alzheimer's-linked protein p-tau217 than dementia patients. This challenges our understanding of both brain development and Alzheimer's disease, potentially opening new treatment pathways. zurl.co/pCso2
