Podcast interviews with some of my fellow scientific sleuths and myself. There are diverse opinions. Mine are broadcast at 4:10-4:30 and 11:30-12:20. I also get a shoutout quotation from @Thatsregrettab1 at 8:15. What is your opinion? creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/na…
Retraction of #arseniclife article. Not "controversial." Simply completely fallacious.
“The problem was not that later research undermined the conclusions. The problem was that the evidence presented in the article was not supportive of the conclusions from the start&that all the results were based on the fact that the arsenate was contaminated with phosphate.”
More on why #arseniclife was retracted and why it should have been retracted long ago. retractionwatch.com/2021/01/21/why…

Sanders, the @LifeAtPurdue biologist, also said the case demonstrates the importance and quality of post publication review: “Timeliness is critical, but it is never too late to take the proper action.”

Sanders said a retraction of the paper “was always warranted” if “a fundamental error undermines a substantial part of an article or a major conclusion.” @PurdueBiolSci @PurdueScience @PurdueSCBB

"Many scientists, including David Sanders, a biologist @LifeAtPurdue, who has previously argued for the paper’s retraction in posts 4 RW, believe the paper’s results were simply the result of contamination of the authors’ materials. He told us he was “glad” to see the retraction"

Some people have a hard time understanding the criteria for retraction and have psychological challenges that prevent them from acknowledging the truth. retractionwatch.com/2025/07/22/mic…
“It’s the people who are contaminating the literature, & the journals and institutions that are not taking adequate responses”who are undermining science, says Sanders.“Not the people who are authentically digging up problems in the scientific literature.” nature.com/articles/d4158…
“I really feel as if the administration is engaged in reverse alchemy, and it’s turning America’s scientific gold into lead,” says David Sanders, a sleuth and biologist @LifeAtPurdue @PurdueScience @PurdueBiolSci @PurdueSCBB

"Science is also "an expression of the greatness of American culture,"Sanders said. "If you want America to be a great country,it has to have great science,"he said. "History looks at civilizations, to a large extent, on their scientific progress." @PurdueBiolSci @purdueexponent

"The more we understand about the science, the better weRprepared2B able2confront(issues),whether it's health, whether it is global warming, whether it's energy choices, whether it's the next pandemic,” Sanders said. "If you don't have good science, you can't answer those questions."

"Sanders added that science helps prepare humanity to address important issues it faces. He said, "many of the problems society faces don't necessarily have a scientific or technological solution,he believes they have a scientific&technological basis." @PurdueScience @PurdueSCBB

It appears that @PressSec Karoline Leavitt needs a course in ethics. Fake citations are not "formatting issues." They are a form of fraud. They are not "#GoldStandard #Science." They represent a falsification of the literature, a type of misconduct. #Liars and #Hypocrites
