As a head I was a bit of a stickler for keeping the curriculum going in the last week of term. Looking back, I was a bit quick to forget just how demanding teaching can be. If a teacher wants a bit of downtime with their class, it really doesn't mean that you're compromising.

As my kids grew, I hoped they’d read a lot. I thought with me being a teacher, this should happen But they often don’t and you think you’ve failed And then they’re older and they’re sat reading Proof that no matter how important you think it is, it will only ever be up to them
It's that time of year again. The strange sense of emptiness, following the hustle of the school year. 'I knew that I should have an overwhelming sense of satisfaction and contentment, but the contrast was just too much.' Read 'The Holiday' …erythingisgoingtobealright.webflow.io/the-holiday

When I was at school the tough kids used to burn their ties. Now they reminisce or even cry. There's no better indicator of how far schools have come, and how special they can be.
At the end of each term, I used to get a knock on the door. One TA would pop in to my office, shake my hand, and tell me I'd done a good job. If you get a minute, and you think your headteacher's doing their best, let them know. That kind of validation means everything.

Inspecting in the last week of term, is like observing a teacher when the children are putting their coats on. It's just not in either parties interests.
A Headteacher Short Story about trying to say thanks to staff, but not really knowing how best to do justice their efforts. Spot on. So many pupils in my settings need that structure right up until the end of term. But staff have increased flexibility in how it"s applied. The rhythm, environment, pacing, timings, deployment etc. 'Flucture' as one member of staff once called it 😂
A quick share for the leadership platform that we made, after years of working really hard, too often with questionable impact. We’d love to show your team around. For every demo we take the time to learn about your school and share ideas that fit. calendly.com/nautiluseducat…

SATs were designed to assess schools not kids and yet they became a way of unfairly and unreasonably ranking kids with no regard to context
SATS results day was often tough for us Trying to explain the back story of the children League tables in the local paper Telling children they were not at the ‘expected standard’ when the world seems stacked against them Some days this system just beats you up doesn’t it?
We're hitting the sweet spot - when the school corridors fall silent, and it's time to put the kettle on.

This is what I love about what you do - not salesy, just really good software. Our team found the demo inspiring because of your suggestions. Always there to help as well, which isn’t typical. A must for September if you want to streamline workload.
