I like sports and sit-coms,maybe a few other things.
1 criticism of The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1962): when they show the hero about to win the big race, the other reform schoolkids are shown rooting him on. This didn't make sense. They're bad kids, why should it matter to them if he wins or loses? They don't profit
On 4k tweets: this one snuck up on me. I'm still trying to improve. I'd say I'm proud of about 10% of them. Surprised I've been blocked by at least 3 people. I don't have a problem with people saying something argumentative. Some do. I'm happy I haven't cursed. No reason to yet.
The Sabres were criticized for not having big guys, so they traded for a 6'5" player and drafted a 6'6" prospect. It reminded me of the old line, 'if you listen to the fan's too much, you'll soon be sitting with them'. I hope it works out for the Sabres, anyway.
A memory from 6/18/69: I played a little league game on this date. We lost 13-5. After the game my dad brought cupcakes for the players. As the guys were eating, my teammate Kevin said,' you're more interested in cupcakes than in the game'. I hope he still thinks about that game
Last race at Saratoga play: I'm going with 16. I think he's the best horse. He's won the most money. He should be the favorite. He's 5/2 in a 4 horse field. He's the only one in the field with a win at Saratoga. They make 'em run and I am an idiot. The usual caveats. Good luck.
Here's my pick for the Belmont: I think 6 will win. I'm wheeling him with 12378. Good luck to all.
50 year old memory: I saw the Phils-Astros game at the Vet on 5/30/75. Doug Konieczny pitched the only shutout of his MLB career. The last hope for the Phils was Larry Fritz, making his 1st AB in the majors. He hit a rope that Cedeno caught. It was Fritz' only big league at bat
The Pick for the Preakness: I think the 2 will win. I'm surprised his odds are still 6/5. I thought he'd be down to 4/5 or less by now. I'm gonna play a superfecta box for 10 cents. I'll use the 1,2,4,7,8,9 and hope something unusual happens. It will cost 36$. Good luck to all.
Explanation of triple qualifier: this is when one horse has 3 Beyer scores higher than any one Beyer score from any other horse in the field. The 2 horse in the Preakness, Journalism has 3 Beyers (108,102,102) above the others. I've never seen this before in a triple crown race.
On the 12th at Pimlico: I see it as completely wide open. I guess that means the favorite will win. I'm going to wheel some in the late pick 3. I think it will be hard to play against the favorite in the big race. The 2 is a triple qualifier in the Preakness. That's hard to beat.
Quick idea on the 11th at Pimlico: I'm playing against the 7. His name is Reagans Wit, and he's 3/5. I'm wheeling the other 6 horses in a pik3. It still leaves me some to bet on the Preakness. The 7 is good but he's not 3/5 good. See if I'm an idiot or not.
Early thoughts on Pete Rose and Joe Jackson being reinstated: I have no problem with it. It doesn't mean they're actually making the HOF. They have to be voted in by members of a veterans committee. The committee is conservative. These 2 may not make it for many valid reasons.
An answer for deplorable dogman: he blocked me for saying Mr. Trump would probably not be a very good chess player. Being a good chess player takes practice and study. Mr. Trump, I see as more of a seat of the pants thinker. This may work in many professions, but not chess.
I'll submit my Ky.derby play before it's too late: I would play a 5 horse tri box for a 1$. It would cost 60$. Here's my 5 horses to box: 3,9,13,18 and 21. I believe a closer will win on a sloppy track. If I had to name 1 horse to win, it would be number 21, Baeza. Good luck all.
Early thoughts on the Bill's draft: I think it might work out, but I have cause for concern. The Bill's offense was historically great last year. Most teams regress after such a year. 6 of the 9 picks were on defense. I would've liked to see them take a stab at a speedy receiver.
The Bills might be boxed in this year. Similar to when they wanted a wide receiver but they were stuck with Kincade. They wanted McDuffie too, but settled for Elam. The Bills could face something like that this year. Will they draft a corner or trade down? Interesting choices.
I'll submit my pick for tonight's NC2A championship basketball game: I like Hou. Straight up and against the spread (+1.5). I'm 52-14 Straight up and 36-30 against the spread. I also see the game as under (140.5). I forsee the score as 71-67. Hou. , i believe is a team of destiny
On being blocked: I figured I would never be blocked as about 95% of my X's are innocuous. If I ever was blocked, I thought it would be by a right winger. I was surprised when Ivlogo from the left blocked me. Good for him. I'm a flawed Xer. i like unfettered free speech though.
On why I like sports: I watched most of the Duke-Hou game. Duke took command early and established a working lead. They were up 6 with 32 seconds left. Then Hou came back to win. That is unusual. The better team usually wins, but the game is 40 mins. Credit Hou for not quitting
I'll submit my picks for today's NC2A tournamen games: I like Fla.and Duke to win straight up, but Aub. And Hou. To beat the spread (+2.5&+4.5).I'm 51-13 straight up and 35-29 ats. I also think the Fla game will be under (159.5), but Duke will go over (136.5). Good luck to all.
