The Outlaw Josey Wales uses a photo of a very dead Bill Doolin from 1896 to stand in for Simp Dixon, who was also a real person. There are no known photos of Simp Dixon, who died in 1870. Unfortunately, this scene from The Outlaw Josey Wales is set in 1865
