Giving minimum effort on the job to avoid discomfort and stress then losing sleep because you can’t pay your bills isn’t self-care, it’s self-sabotage.

Ambiguity is the enemy of accountability. Clarity enables accountability and in its absence accountability is infeasible because the question becomes, "accountable for what?"

“I know he’s selfish, doesn’t really follow our processes and sometimes violates our values, but he’s my top performer. What would it cost me if he leaves?” “Perhaps you should consider what it’ll cost you if he stays.”

Learn contentment in the moment & to be grateful for what you have, while you strive for what’s next. Otherwise, regardless how much you accomplish, it will always take "just a little bit more" to be happy. And despite your success, that "little bit more" will be a thief of joy.

I was pale and holding the podium because my vertigo was so bad I couldn’t make it into the building without help. When you have a job to do find a way to get it done. No one cares much about why you can’t, anyhow.

None of you is as smart as all of you. Tap into the minds of others to innovate, upgrade & improve your decisions. Collaborating doesn't diminish your authority. It helps you make better decisions & increase buy-in once the decision is made. People support what they help create.

Stop glorifying busyness long enough to unplug, be still, and think. Step back from being lived by life and working in your business to work on your life and on your business. It's not always easy, but it is always worth it.

Commitment is more than a one-time declaration or choice to go all-in & announce "I'm committed". One must choose & sacrifice daily to demonstrate commitment & remain committed despite distractions, hardship, inconvenience, or cost. Commitment is a process not a pronouncement.

Create a culture that encourages “skinned knees” and where people can take shots, miss, and take better shots next time. If failure is fatal and everything your people do is a matter of life or death, they’re going to be dead a lot.

There's a big difference between interview performance and job performance. Guard against emotional hiring decisions. Evaluate candidates on the basis of their fitness for doing the job, not getting the job.
