I have written around 5,000 words across several articles this summer explaining how the Cowboys' front office operates and how this contract drama is much ado about nothing. If you missed out, here is the cliff notes version. About the players... Dak Prescott is a proven…
Imagine George Pickens being a legit WR threat. Imagine Joe Milton filling in for a couple of games and helping the Cowboys win games. Imagine Tyler Guyton having a natural year two progression and turning into a quality LT. All of these things are reasonable, and if they…

People who want to move on from Dak Prescott have no idea what they'd be getting themselves into. It would be like spinning the QB wheel of death!
BEFORE THEY GET PAID: Extend him already! AFTER THEY GET PAID: He better step it up! Right on cue.
That Seam route better be on point.
Jake Ferguson had 751 yards and five touchdowns without the duo of CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens commanding extra attention from the defense. Imagine what he'll do now. The Cowboys saved some money because he'd be more expensive coming off the big season he's going to have.
Don't even try to compare these two situations.
Good for ferg but if you Micah what are you even thinking right now
Of the Cowboys' top six highest-paid players... One is a 1st-round pick One is a 2nd-round pick One is a 3rd-round pick Two are 4th-round picks One is an UDFA
People become so fixated on what they want to believe that it deters them from reality.
But Dan I thought the front office never extends anyone early?
George Kittle and Trey McBride just signed extensions worth $19 million per year. With new deals coming soon for Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews, Kyle Pitts, David Njoku, and Dallas Goedert, the going rate for tight ends won't be cheap. Landing Jake Ferguson for $13M is good business.

Cowboys re-sign Jake Ferguson to a four-year, $52 million extension. I wrote this two weeks ago. I'm so glad the Cowboys front office agrees. bloggingtheboys.com/2025/7/14/2446…
The Cowboys have 16 defensive backs currently on the roster. Only one of them has an interception in the playoffs. And that player is Kaiir Elam. He has two.

If anyone is excited about Deuce Vaughn, you should redirect that excitement towards the guy who made you excited about Deuce Vaughn in the first place.

Hulk Hogan was an American hero...if you're a 10-year-old kid who gets excited about wrestling and you can block out all that toxic racist shit.
Remember when Trey Lance was making plays like this in camp last year? Me neither.
CeeDeena George is going to be so fetch this year. Everyone will obsess over them and every defender they humiliate will go straight into the burn book. (photo courtesy @JonahJavad)

Dak Prescott should run more. And by Dak Prescott, I mean Joe Milton. I really hope the Cowboys have some plays drawn up for him.
This is what excitement looks like when you realize they can't double cover both of you.
CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens
One thing about this contract saga that most people get wrong is that the delays aren't happening because the Cowboys' front office wants attention, or because they are insanely stubborn, or financially inept. The are trying to do what is best for the team, and it may not always…

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times?!!!
Deuce Vaughn
Many aren't surprised, but they pretend to be to pander to the fanbase who share their disdain for the front office. It makes them feel validated, while stirring up more drama that they ironically are always accusing the Cowboys of creating. It's silly, and it's unnecessary.
I'm always looking around and wondering who all these people are that are so surprised by the batshit things that come out of Jerry's mouth. As long as someone was a fan as recently as when Dak's 1st contract was a year late, none of the rest of this should be a surprise.
