πͺπΊπ§π¬ Itβs official. With 531 votes in favor in the EP and the final endorsement from EU finance ministers, #Bulgaria is set to adopt the euro on January 1, 2026. This marks a historic milestone, paving the way for a stronger Bulgaria, firmly anchored in Europeβs shared future.
π§π¬π€π·π΄ Starting at midnight, border checks between Bulgaria and Romania will be liftedβanother step toward true free movement in Europe. Together with @MagnusBrunner πͺπΊ and Sevi Voloudaki π¬π·, we marked #Schengen40 at Kulata. Schengen means freedomβand shared responsibility.

In Washington, I met with DEA Director Robert Murphy to deepen π§π¬βπΊπΈ cooperation in the fight against drugs & the deadly spread of fentanyl. Together with π§π¬ police leaders, we shared strong results: 3x more drugs seized in early 2025 vs. the entire previous year. #DEA



π§π¬π€πΊπΈ During our U.S. visit, we toured the DEAβs Office of Investigative Technology & training academy in Quantico. We saw cutting-edge tools in action & discussed π§π¬ officers joining DEA training programs. Shared our top drug-busting tech from recent GDBOP ops. #DEA


π§π¬π€πΊπΈ In my meeting with Cartland Whaley at the State Dept, I made it clear: π§π¬ must be a reliable barrier against fentanyl and drug trafficking entering πͺπΊ. Together with top Bulgarian police chiefs, we discussed joint action on drugs, money laundering & counterfeit currency.


π§π¬π€πΊπΈ Productive meeting in Washington with Deputy Assistant Secretary Sonata Coulter. We discussed π§π¬βs strong progress on joining the Visa Waiver Program & joint steps against money laundering. π§π¬ Bulgaria is back with a stable govβt, committed to πͺπΊ #Eurozone by Jan 2026.


A remarkable day. Another step forward on Bulgariaβs path to the euro. The positive assessments by @ecb and @EU_Commission confirm our progress β but the work continues. This follows years of reforms, commitment, and alignment with our European partners.
