🇪🇺🇧🇬 It’s official. With 531 votes in favor in the EP and the final endorsement from EU finance ministers, #Bulgaria is set to adopt the euro on January 1, 2026. This marks a historic milestone, paving the way for a stronger Bulgaria, firmly anchored in Europe’s shared future.

🇧🇬🤝🇷🇴 Starting at midnight, border checks between Bulgaria and Romania will be lifted—another step toward true free movement in Europe. Together with @MagnusBrunner 🇪🇺 and Sevi Voloudaki 🇬🇷, we marked #Schengen40 at Kulata. Schengen means freedom—and shared responsibility.

In Washington, I met with DEA Director Robert Murphy to deepen 🇧🇬–🇺🇸 cooperation in the fight against drugs & the deadly spread of fentanyl. Together with 🇧🇬 police leaders, we shared strong results: 3x more drugs seized in early 2025 vs. the entire previous year. #DEA

🇧🇬🤝🇺🇸 In my meeting with Cartland Whaley at the State Dept, I made it clear: 🇧🇬 must be a reliable barrier against fentanyl and drug trafficking entering 🇪🇺. Together with top Bulgarian police chiefs, we discussed joint action on drugs, money laundering & counterfeit currency.
