Joint Hospital Group South West: Tri-Service secondary healthcare unit, training hard to deliver all elements of the operational patient care pathway.
Some highlights from this year’s Exercise Kernow Trident, held at RAF St Mawgan! The week included practical leadership tasks, AT, including surfing and coasteering, a refresher on defence writing skills, and an opportunity to refine navigation skills on a coastal walk🌊☀️




Recently, the unit participated in collective training onboard RFA Argus to prepare for their deployable role. The training included familiarisation with the MR3 facility and practical exercises to simulate realistic clinical scenarios.




Throwback to last month’s RCN Congress in Liverpool, where some of our nurses had the opportunity to attend the conference. It was a valuable chance to engage with the wider nursing community and stay up to date with best practices across the profession👩⚕️👨⚕️

Personnel from JHG(SW) attended the Royal Cornwall Show last weekend, representing the unit and engaging with the public. As part of their activities, they also painted realistic-looking wounds, which was a popular and fun way to demonstrate casualty simulation techniques




Military Takeover Day🩺 Military clinical staff recently stepped in to run MAU for the first time, allowing our NHS colleagues to enjoy a valuable team-building day. The takeover was a success, and we hope to organize another soon. Thanks to all involved for their great teamwork!

Last month, JHG (SW) celebrated its 30th anniversary with a mess dinner at Stonehouse barracks. The unit managed to raise £234 during the evening for Hugs Children’s Cancer Charity

Congratulations to the JHG(SW) RN personnel who were presented with their Coronation medal by the CO during Wednesday’s unit Brief. Personnel then spent the afternoon at HMS Raleigh taking on the assault course. Well done to all 🪖
