Nice thing about being on vacation is how little you care about what’s going on in the rest of the world. Nuclear bombs could be dropped and you’re like “So cool I get to sit by the pool and read today”
Really enjoyed this by @mattbucher - a funny, melancholy novel about how time is captured by work, and what happens when we’re off the clock - if we ever can be. Gets to the atomised informational structure of our lives in a really interesting way
Imagine printing out 1500 pages of the best novel of all time at a Kinko’s

The letter DFW wrote to Sven Birkerts that was for sale on eBay a couple months ago was purchased by the Ransom Center and is now in his archives lol
It’s over: the first time I get recognized out in public is at the Ransom Center for THIS TWITTER ACCOUNT (And hey, if you read this, I didn’t get your name and we’re here through the weekend if you want to maybe grab drinks or something 🙂)
A beautiful cover, a great title, an immensely talented friend of mine…. Can’t wait to to dig in

Want to make a movie that does for “Red Light Special” what Babygirl did for “Father Figure”
Answered a bunch of pre-op questions today that seemed contingent on having someone in the same living space, if not the same bed (“Ever been observed to stop breathing during sleep?” “Snoring ever heard through walls?”). I recognized the pathos w/o being particularly saddened
Not me taking advantage of my co-worker’s found-new-love energy to slack off at work
I was fortunate enough to snag a copy of this book a few weeks ago. THE SUMMER LAYOFF is perfect for the summer, the kind of book that can keep your mind occupied with deeper thoughts as your eyes move from the page to whatever shit your kids want you watch them do in the pool.
Today is the official pub date for my book "The Summer Layoff." Markson fans (& anyone who's ever been laid off or said work sucks) might like it. Order from any bookstore or online retailer. bookshop.org/p/books/the-su… // Thank you to everyone who has supported me & the book so far.

So...like it’s always been? Some of you need to hear this: the only people who don’t struggle in their twenties are the privileged and lucky. The money, like everything else in life, just figures itself out, I swear. You just have to, you know, live longer than 2-3 decades
Has anyone noticed if you're under 30 in America that it's completely over and there's no hope for you to have basic living standards
