Just gave a talk to group of cadets learning fly fishing as a new skill for their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE). Great to meet them and glad to hear they enjoy 🎣 as a sport of their choice.

Fisheries officers out on patrol yesterday, checking the river Tamar and Lyhner for illegal activity. Fishing vessels observed have been inspected for catch and gear type on board. Report illegal fishing activity to us on ☎️ 0800 807060


Discarded fishing net like this example we found at Porth beach is a hazard. Nets are dangerous to swimmers, surfers, water users and wildlife. There are strict rules for when and where they can be used. Report cases like this to our hotline 0800 807060.
Closed season 🚫 patrol along the river Exe. The rivers open again for coarse fishing after the 15 June. If you are fishing 🎣 please make sure you have a valid rod licence to avoid prosecution.

Two #TeamEA Water Bailiffs were assaulted during routine fishing licence checks. Two adults – a father and son – pled guilty to offences including fishing without a licence and have been ordered to pay over £12,000 in fines and costs. Read more: gov.uk/government/new…
