Tonight and tomorrow, the Lowry Bridge and other MN landmarks are shining green to honor the late Melissa and Mark Hortman. Green was Representative Hortman's favorite color and symbolizes her commitment to environmental issues through her public service. Thank you, Hortmans. 💚
Today we recognized @hennepin county employees who truly do great work. Award winners were colleagues who excelled in disparity reduction, climate and resiliency, equity, innovation, integrity, people first and stewardship. These are the people that help move the county forward!

A big congratulations is in order for Our Saviour’s Community Services for their newly improved and expanded emergency shelter space. Years ago I was an intern at this shelter. It is truly a joy to see needed improvements and to have the space on 2219 Chicago ave reopen soon.

Getting through this week has required connecting with loved ones and community. Community heals, we can’t go without it. Thankful for all the people that provided safe spaces for us all in the last several days. Joy is medicine. Joy is resistance.

Today we lost a champion. It's an unfathomable loss. There are so many layers to my grief. Right now, my prayers are with Melissa and Mark’s family and friends. I am also praying for Sen. Hoffman, his wife, and I wish them a full recovery. This is a dark day for our state.

Our Somali Heart Health gathering was a joy! Dr. Abdi Jama and Nadira Mohamed provided insight, facts and advice that left an impact on us all. Thank you Yusra Mohamud for facilitating the conversation, African Development Center for hosting, and Oasis Mediterranean for catering!
