Tom Clemente was my faculty mentor. He’s an outstanding scientist who didn’t hesitate to speak his mind and was right an awful lot of the time. I hesitate way more than I should but will try to be right a similar fraction of the time. Beadle feels smaller and more empty
Congrats again to Tom Clemente on his success and retirement. I will miss your humor and your gruffness, which were things I grew up with and made me feel at home in Beadle. Read more about Tom's many career successes here! news.unl.edu/article/clemen…
Science attracts brilliant people with random backgrounds. I always value insight from the multiple perspectives they bring. If you do too, please consider attending this online session from @ASPB_WiPB and @ASPB on how to support perspectives! CU there!

From a nation that was in the brink of starvation to being the largest producer of rice, a journey of science, farmers and society working together. I hope sometime soon we compete with Netherlands for productive per acre.
CABBI researchers at @UNLincoln introduced genome editing reagents into sorghum to delete segments of DNA within regions that control expression of 2 genes involved in #photosynthesis. The outcomes can inform editing strategies to modulate the expression of selected gene models.
With the blessing of ALLAH Almighty! I am truly honored to see these kind words from my advisor, Professor James Schnable. Highly grateful to Professor Schnable, Dr. Seema Sahay, Dr. Rebecca Roston, and all lab members involved in this work.
In January of 2023 @WaqarAli325 came to Lincoln with no coding background (and no winter coat). Today he published a paper using GWAS to identify genes linked to variation in how corn photosynthesizes, complete with reverse genetics validation in arabidopsis (1/2).
