Back to basics: (1) Reject segregation. We must move towards one community, no exclusion. (2) An essential building-block for justice? Never look away from the truth. (3) Discriminated against? Despite right-wing judges, there are still powerful tools to vindicate your rights.

I think it’s silly to treat @andrewcuomo’s “I’ll move to Florida” quip as anything other than a way to dramatize what he sees as the stakes of the campaign, @RichAzzopardi, but why didn’t the campaign respond to substantive inquiries of utmost seriousness? remappingdebate.org/article/cuomo-…
Sought answers from Cuomo campaign to basic Qs arising out of @errollouis/@andrewcuomo walk & talk. remappingdebate.org/article/cuomo-…. Specifics on how Cuomo sees NYC-run rent reg working to help tenants? Does he really want to open all valves to construction? No dice.
There are points I wish @2025NYC_CRC had strengthened, but this is an awfully good statement from CRC Chair @RichardBuery on @TweetBenMax podcast: “Fundamentally, we are not a confederation of neighborhoods. We are a city and we live or die together.” podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/max…
If Dems can’t beat Lawler, they ought to close up shop as a party. Super-secret strategic tip I’m now prepared to make public: find a candidate who will focus on issues that Dems are strong on, and who will parry (not double-down on) issues Dems are weak on.
Breaking News: Representative Mike Lawler, Republican of New York, plans to seek re-election next year rather than run for governor. nyti.ms/3IFT8aa
Nope. The “Fair Housing Framework,” of which the Speaker is so proud, has no teeth. Two @2025NYC_CRC proposals would provide some. Next Council wants to more affordable housing built? Nothing in any proposal hinders that. Let’s not pretend: the status quo protects exclusion.
Since 2022, @NYCCouncil has approved 120K+ housing units and secured $8B+ in investments to make housing more affordable. That progress is only possible because of our role in the land use process, which Mayor Adams’ Charter Commission is now trying to weaken.

Read this story from @ReuvenBlau. I defy you to walk away from it without sputtering and shaking with frustration. This is something that government has to be able to get done. thecity.nyc/2025/07/21/241…
Surprised that this @Spokoiny post didn’t get more traction; it identifies a terribly important element of the embedded assumptions of Trump and his minions.

This Josh Greenman Substack is a lovely example of how to try to disarm an audience you know will be really skeptical of the proposition you're advancing (in this case, that Eric Adams has a pretty decent record to run on). Fabulous intro below; link here: joshgreenman.substack.com/p/the-case-for…

Interactive graphic accompanying @NLIHC's new "Out of Reach: The High Cost of Housing" report. Shows hourly wage required in each state to be able to rent a 2BR apt that's affordable to you. (NYS #3 at $46.03/hour; CA #1 at $49.61/hour). Start here: nlihc.org/oor.

Credit to candidate who realizes interview should be challenging, not a softball festival. Same level of probing guaranteed regardless of where on ideological spectrum candidate falls. Is your guy interested, @Ali_Najmi, @Fabien_Levy, @RichAzzopardi? What about you, @CurtisSliwa?
What a great interviewer @CraigGurianNYC is! And a real “long form” thinker. He had clearly read my whole housing plan! All 100+ pages. We got into some heavy weeds. Let’s see the other candidates do that!
