The biggest mistake of the Alola entries is that, since Alola doesn't focus on Megas, it's not made clear that the close bond and the pain are not at odds within the lore. The bond is what helps a Pokémon OVERCOME the pain.

the story of the Afton family should have ended at UCN. There are still stories in FNAF that can be told, but every appearance of the Afton family characters since UCN has felt pointless really only included so NPC's can point at the screen and clap
