Gibraltar Governor

I bade farewell to Major Dominic Collado, on his final call on leaving the Royal Gibraltar Regiment and after 6 years as the ADC to the Governor. I am deeply grateful for his many years of service and wish him the very best and I commend him unreservedly to any future employer.

On Armed Forces Day, I would like to pay tribute to the Armed Forces for their loyalty, courage and selfless commitment. This includes all personnel currently serving (Regulars and Reserves), along with veterans and cadets and their families who support them. 1/2

This means choosing one’s own beliefs and living one’s own culture, as well as expressing one’s own sexual orientation and gender identity. Gibraltar should be rightly proud of what has been achieved, leading UK and Europe in diversity and inclusion. 3/3

We can take pride in the steps that Governments in Gibraltar have made over the past two decades. Our society is stronger when everyone, whether at home or at work, can be themselves. 2/3

Pride is a celebration of love, diversity, inclusion and equality. It also reminds us of the challenges LGBT+ persons continue to face. Acceptance of diversity is one of the cornerstones of a strong democracy. 1/3

The Convent lowered its flags to half mast for the late Sir Derek Reffell who was Governor in Gibraltar from 1989 to 1993.

Delighted to have received the presentation score of the fanfare and processional music composed by the Royal Gibraltar Regiment’s Bandmaster, WO1 (BM) Benjamin James RCAM, that was performed for my arrival as Governor on Casemates Square during the King’s Birthday Parade.

His Majesty The King has granted the following honours: Mrs Annie GREEN to be a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to Vulnerable Children in Gibraltar. 1/2
