Just got reminded The Incredibles comics just end with all the villians teaming-up, with the brain of the hero Overseer in their control and the city turning on the family. And that's it. Pain. It's never getting resolved.

It's funny because people act like the whole ward thing was an intentional hard line distinction from the start for something other than optics but as time moved on every other retelling used a different term. He was a ward, fostered and adopted.
bruce & dick brothers discourse is really funny to me bc bruce Does say repeatedly he thinks of dick as his son, talk to people he just met about dick like that’s his son, etc. and dick also states frequently preadoption that he thinks of bruce like something close to a father
