In my opinion amateur baseball would benefit from a return to neighborhood baseball for younger ages and American Legion Baseball - or a similar model - for high school aged players.

I don’t know what options you have. Unfortunately I think the system in most places is less than ideal but also the only option for a lot of families. If you’re in an area with @LittleLeague Baseball I think that it the best choice because of the rules and size of the diamond.

Lots of socializing took place there. It was a good place to spend time. And we watched and talked about baseball. Being stuck in a car, hours from home with teammates from another state (whose last names you don’t know) seems the opposite of the experience I enjoyed.

I would just like to see the kids enjoy baseball as much as I did when I was a kid. I never played a game more than an hour from my house until I was in college. The neighborhood field was a place we would stay even after our game was done - watch the other games and players.

It’s been my experience that by the time the parents realize the negatives to the current system it’s too late - their kids are done and the next group has already been enrolled. I work in baseball but still saw this first hand with my boys when they played - I even fell for it.

A lot of response to my post about amateur baseball. I don’t pretend to have all the answers and agree that the current system is entrenched enough that it would be hard to change.

I’m reading and learning about summer baseball just now ending - in mid July. If I remember - and I know my memory might not be entirely accurate - but Boca Raton Post 277 played until early August until we had to go back to school.

First time I’ve heard about this player and I love the nickname. Hard to imagine 4 games in one day, let alone catching two and pitching two.

I’m loving these. Fitz was one of our first recruits when I got to Tulane with Coach Jones. Tremendous hitter.

I’m biased because I grew up rooting for and eventually worked at @NotreDame. My brother is a grad. I’m here for work and at a local. It’s karaoke night which I would normally avoid. Assume it’s mostly seniors ready to graduate. A Lot of talent - impressive. Not normal karaoke.

Just finished watching the replay of the @MayoGAA win over Sligo to start the chase for The Sam. Good play by a lot of players but especially @AIDOXI.
