This is a thread looking at sentences handed down by Judge Christopher Hehir. 🧵

Experiencing imposter syndrome from being on this line-up.

This framing is misleading @dpcarrington. There's no 'new normal' until we stop burning fossil fuels - it just keeps getting worse and worse. As the scientists quoted in the article say "today’s high temperatures are likely to be average by 2050, and cool by 2100".

They were pillars of the British establishment. Then they realised: we are the baddies. What did they do next? 🧵
Some people have asked me what I think about a new party of the left. So here’s a thread. I joined the Green Party a year ago but before that I joined Labour in 2015 to support Corbyn and left in 2020 when it was clear to me Labour was unsalvageable.
The planet is burning - and the Global South is being told to "catch up"? Across India, communities are saying no. They're showing that another way of living life is possible. Grounded. Fair. Democratic. Frugal. In harmony with nature. They call it eco-swaraj. The term…
Scientists meeting in Exeter, UK have demanded world leaders take “immediate, unprecedented action” to save humanity from global collapse. This is a thread compiling media coverage of this seismic news. 🧵

Nashville. 1960. One of the most segregated cities in the world. But change is coming, thanks to a masterclass in strategy, discipline and nonviolent resistance. This is the story of how the civil rights movement achieves the impossible. 🧵
How to cover heatwaves - in contrast to the 'Phew, what a scorcher' jollity of the UK’s billionaire press.
The USA is cooked. The rest of the world is cooking. How to stop the slide? Parties like The Democrats won’t do it. So then what? @EricaChenoweth has the answer: if 3.5% of the population get involved in nonviolent resistance, they will achieve their aims (almost) every time.🧵
"And God shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares... nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." This is the story of the people who took this Bible verse seriously.🧵
WHAT THE MEDIA WON'T TELL YOU Iran has suffered at the hands of the West for 75 years - not because of its nuclear aspirations, but because of its fossil fuels. 🧵
Sometimes you read something in a newspaper and think “That can’t be right”. But this time, it is. Superbugs already kill over 30,000 people each year in the UK. But this could spiral into a catastrophe where life expectancy drops by 20 years. Why? Sewage overflows.
As the USA's ultranationalist, ultra-militarised regime attacks protestors (again), the name Martin Luther King Jr has come up a lot. So let’s look at what MLK really believed - and what he would have said about what's going on in LA in 2025.🧵
"No country would find billions of barrels of oil in the ground and just leave them there" said @JustinTrudeau of Canada’s tar sands, the world’s biggest source of pollution. But in 2023, the people of Ecuador 🇪🇨 voted to do just that. 🧵
As friends of mine continue to get locked up for nonviolent resistance for fighting climate disaster, I think it's our job to educate ourselves on nonviolence & violence. There's no better place to begin than Hannah Arendt. My thoughts. Please share! Tx open.substack.com/pub/clarejfarr…
We should.
When will we aee @metpoliceuk leaders on trial for state sponsored statutory rape of peaceful wildlife & climate protectors?! 🙈
