Swiss Re reports excess mortality up to 3% in the US, 2.5% in the UK by 2033 due to lingering impact of COVID as a cause of death and contributor to cardiovascular mortality. CEO Paul Murray “We think it’s over and it’s not. People are still getting ill and they’re still dying.”
The PMC estimate of 175,000 U.S. excess deaths from COVID in 2025 is based on Swiss Re models from 2024. The models did not anticipate that people would lose access to COVID vaccinations & that 11.8 million would lose Medicaid. More people will die from these decisions.
