Genetically, historically and linguistically the assumption that Northern Italians are pure Italics from the Iron Age just doesn't work. Let me explain why:

Another case of why Phenotypes don't really matter and don't always go hand in hand with genetics. I thought PRZ001 was a Celtic Valkyria migrated in Etruria, turns out she was a nordic-looking Etruscan woman.

Simulation of a sample 50% Etruscan and 50% Celtic. Unreal Iron Age continuity in modern day Western Europeans. Cisalpine Celts are still alive to this day in Northern Italy.

I think this is a better PCA Germans are relatively very close to one another. Italy has definetly more distance, even between northern italy and central italy.
Good model check these out 🔥

Yeah lol I wonder why.
many countries in europe are diverse (france, spain, germany, uk etc.) and yet, you only find north italians trying hard to distance themselves from their compatriots lmaooo

We the best
These maps give a better picture. Have to wonder what happened in Venetia and Northern Italy since the second half of the XVIII century.
On the topic of Sami, heres a early historical archaeological map on them.

The Sami are one of the LEAST indigenous people of Europe. To pretend they've been in any part of Scandinavia before Indo-Europeans and Germanics is entirely misinformed.
No? Sami arrive into sweden and norway WAY after indo-europeans and their pre-proto-germanic descendants have lived there. Indo Europeans arrive into scandinavia in 2800-2600. The proto sami? Sometime after 1000bc for finland, and after 200bc for sweden (as far as i understand…
