Sen's Fortress is one of the funniest things I have ever seen in a video game. You're in this ultra bleak grim fantasy world and then halfway through you just have to play takeshi's castle with a bunch of snakemen for a while and then it goes back to grim fantasy

agree. fidelity is just generally excessively costly to everyone, for how much it actually adds. i'm not that sad that it's becoming unsustainable to make boring 3d movie simulations where you do action scenes and chores to see more movie
I believe indies should avoid fidelity as much as possible. You can’t beat or compete with AAA and so you already lose players with those expectation no matter how much you invest there. Focus on what AAA can’t afford and choose intentionally to be fresh and weird.
