It’s not uncommon for ppl in Puerto Rico to abandon their horses when they become injured or ill. It’s very difficult to get a vet to euthanize them & they end up suffering so much (this is NOT a TB).

Yes. Horses with great pedigrees do end up in Puerto Rico, where most horses are literally raced to death. With so many connections having exposure to the horrors of racing in Puerto Rico I don’t understand why more people don’t speak up.
I looked him up, he ran 34 times. Was 34-2-3-5. Made less than 20K. Thanks for saving him. He looks like he still loves the life, being around race horses. Has an unreal pedigree. By Sire and Mare anyways.

Collectively- doesn’t the racing industry want to get rid of “the bad actors?” If that is to be true, how can we sit by while 100 horses a year are sent to their death? They’re BABIES. Wait until I start sharing the videos of the horses sold off to Dominican Republic.
Of the 94 purchased at publicly recognized auctions so far in 2025 93 - are from OBS: 27 - MAR 14 - APR 52 - JUN 1 is from FTMMAY (517: Lucky Talent)
Unconscionable. Truly. Why isn’t @OBSSales addressing these serious and fact based welfare concerns? Maybe breeders should boycott OBS, as a stance of solidarity for these horses.
It is unconscionable that thoroughbreds continue to be sent to Puerto Rico to be raced and run in to the ground. We have flown 3 thoroughbreds back from PR over the years which is incredibly expensive. If we would not have rescued them they would have been euthanized.
That’s a great question. FACT: 51% of 250-300 horses euthanized at Camarero are between 2-4 years old. Maybe this is a business model for @OBSSales too?
How does @LisaLazarusCEO HISA and @OBSSales allow this to happen? 2 year olds being bought in June Obs sales ship to Puerto Rico?
All the horses bought @OBSSales recently. Sickening to think of the fate waiting for these poor babies. @OBSSales needs to take some accountability here.

Priorities. Who cares about the lame horses hobbling across the finish line to be euthanized when we have gaming machines!!! If even a small percent of resources were put into a quality racing program instead of news appearances promoting gambling machines…one can dream.
