I'm delighted to announce the publication of my first book, UNREDACTED: RUSSIA, TRUMP AND THE FIGHT FOR DEMOCRACY, by @MarinerBooks in America on October 8th, 2024. Pre-order now: a.co/d/2JXvykF

Trump is clearly worried about the Epstein files and so gaslighting with false claims about the Russia investigation. If the ‘Steele Dossier’ was “fake”, why did he fail every time he tried to sue us? And he’s still in breach of the UK High Court costs order awarded against him.
The latest attempts by Trump’s team to claim the Kremlin didn’t actively support his 2016 campaign are ludicrous. Inter alia, Putin’s comments on the subject at Helsinki in 2018 and the infamous 2016 Veselnitskaya/Don Jnr conversation in Trump Tower clearly prove that they did.
And so it begins. The USG has now broken ranks with Western allies by lifting sanctions on Russian banks, some close to the Kremlin. This despite the fact that Russia’s economy has started to creak and Moscow has recently increased missile and drone attacks on Ukraine. Cui bono?
It’s increasingly clear that Trump isn’t fully committed to NATO’s Article V mutual defence. This has major implications for Western deterrence, at least short term, which no amount of fawning on him by NATO leaders can counter. We must develop fallback defence plans accordingly.
The UK govt should resist any pressure to get involved in attacking Iran, the ultimate aim of which is clearly regime change. Last time we did similar, in Iraq, it was a disaster and did not serve Britain’s interests. These are and will remain firmly centred in Europe (Ukraine).
An extraordinary performance by Trump at the G7, playing his usual role as Putin’s spokesman and apologist in chief. Russia was ejected from the G8 for illegally invading a sovereign neighbour, Ukraine. Readmitting Putin could not conceivably be in America’s national interest.
5. The real West needs to establish the goal of the war: The collapse of the kleptocratic, autocratic & imperialist regime of Putin! 6. Because as long as Putin or his ilk rule russia, there will not be peace in Europe. /5
I decided to become a journalist aged fifteen after reading ‘1984’ and being appalled at the thought that governments could rewrite history. Orwell knew the USSR did it. Now China pretends the Tiananmen massacre didn’t happen. It did. I was there, and saw it for myself.
The scale and audacity of Kyiv’s attack on Russian strategic assets yesterday was breathtaking. Ukrainian special forces and agents seem able to operate at will deep inside Russia. Significantly and surprisingly, this is something Moscow has clearly failed to achieve in Ukraine.
So much for the inevitable onward march of authoritarian nationalism in Western democracies. The surprise victory of pro-EU moderate Nicursor Dan in Romania, following those of Carney and Albanese, should be celebrated. They are a clear retort to the current Trump-induced chaos.
What more will it take to convince the USG that Putin’s aim to crush Ukraine as an independent, democratic sovereign state hasn’t changed and that Moscow isn’t interested in a ceasefire or just end to the war? Putin’s farcical ‘peace’ negotiations in Turkey prove this for sure.
(3/6) It strikes me as the ultimate sign of Putin’s selfishness and hypocrisy to celebrate the end of a war of aggression whilst at the same time pursuing another war of aggression that shows all the signs of a land grab – including countless well-documented war crimes and…
Whilst we should never forget the Soviet people’s huge sacrifice in winning WW2, we must resist Putin’s attempt to exploit the 80th anniversary to support Russian imperialism. In fact, a greater proportion(16.3%) of Ukrainians died than Russians(12.7%). It was their victory too.
Merz’s defeat in the first Bundestag vote to confirm him as German Chancellor was both surprising and destabilising. Berlin should investigate if Russian interference was involved. Cui bono? Primarily Putin who must be dreading the new government’s increased support for Ukraine.
It was heartening to see Ukrainian troops marching in the VE Day 80th anniversary parade in London. Churchill and our WW2 veterans would certainly approve. Ukraine is at the forefront of the fight for democracy in Europe and we should be proud to continue flying their flag here.
It’s hard to imagine a more dangerous approach to Moscow than that being pursued by Trump/Witkoff. Putin’s a murderous thug with imperial ambitions and totally untrustworthy. By selling out Ukraine, Trump will simply encourage further Russian aggression rather than secure peace.
This is what we all feared. The United States and Russia bullying brave President Zelensky into a terrible deal. Time for the United Kingdom and Europe to stand up to Trump and seize the Russian assets so we can go it alone.
No foreign leader in contempt of His Majesty’s High Court should be given a State visit or invited to address Parliament. Trump remains in breach of multiple court orders after losing a spurious data protection case against Orbis. He has no respect for the UK or our rule of law.
Whilst refusing to criticise Russia or hold it accountable for the illegal invasion of Ukraine and ongoing warcrimes like the murderous attack on Sumy yesterday, Trump continues to excuse Putin and blame Zelensky for the war. European leaders must challenge this false narrative.
