SNP ministers lost all sense of perspective and resorted to self-preservation during the pandemic. They misled the public repeatedly and exploited Covid for political gain. My column today, five years on since lockdown thescottishsun.co.uk/news/14535672/…
If only Trump protesters would get as worked up about people dying due NHS failures, or the wrecked education system. But protests are as much about showing off to your tribe as affecting change - suiting failing governments down to a tee. Column today.. thescottishsun.co.uk/news/15140616/…
Lovely final column from Alf Young in the Sunday Times Scotland
“After a decade, I’m boarding the ferry that takes me home” - Alf Young, one of Scotland’s great journalists, from a generation of greats, is signing off. Some shift, all the best Alf, thetimes.com/article/e3e9f4…
What a coincidence! John Swinney announces £180,000 of public money for a comp at Donald Trump's golf course, just before he meets Trump

It is the SNP that left me, not the other way about ... thescottishsun.co.uk/news/scottish-…
John Swinney says he's "concerned" at what the watering down of UK Gov welfare reforms could mean for Scot Gov's budget. Concerned?! If all else is equal, it should mean Scot Gov gets £400million a year MORE than expected by 2029-30 -- as Swinney knows full well
Before Holyrood got welfare powers, Scotland’s disproportionate reliance on social security was widely regarded as a bad thing. Now, our rising devolved benefits bill is a badge of honour for SNP ministers, despite signalling societal failure. Column.. thescottishsun.co.uk/news/15009014/…
Moral hazard. Like, say, telling WFH civil servants you'll be "kind" to them if they refuse to come back to the office
I am glad for DUNDEE UNIVERSITY that the SNP are to give them £40 million[where from?] What about Universities like Stirling which have made huge efforts to balance the books but are short [?£8million] This is a sector wide problem though Dundee mismanaged and are now rewarded
Scot Gov's WFH civil servants won't automatically be disciplined if they refuse order to return to the office two days a week, gov's Permanent Secretary says thescottishsun.co.uk/news/14986065/…
EXCL: Work-from-home civil servants at the Scottish Government demanded a swimming pool and pay rise after being told to come back to the office for just two days a week. by @conor_matchett thescottishsun.co.uk/news/14982993/…
EXCL: Anas Sarwar looking at overhaul of Scotland’s complex six-band income tax system if Scottish Labour wins power, and says SNP's current setup "punishes aspiration" thescottishsun.co.uk/news/14983085/…
Hats off to Humza. He's managed to persuade them he's still First Minister
“It's a huge day” First Minister of Scotland Humza Yousaf, on the passing of the assisted dying bill for England and Wales, in a historic Commons vote. #Newsnight
If everything is so great and youth violence really is falling, as SNP ministers claim, why did John Swinney hold an emergency summit on the matter? You only learn how to fix a problem if you properly face up to it. Column.. thescottishsun.co.uk/news/14945380/…
NEW: Scandal-hit football freebie minister Neil Gray was chauffeured to a pub as part of his jolly to watch Aberdeen at Pittodrie. thescottishsun.co.uk/news/14932139/…

Rivals claim John Swinney “rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic” while increasing the size of his cabinet in reshuffle thescottishsun.co.uk/news/14926027/…

EXCLUSIVE: Nigel Farage has U-turned on a plan to scrap all MSPs and put Scottish MPs in Holyrood instead. The Reform UK leader wanted a watered down parly when he bossed the UKIP party — but now concedes “devolution is here to stay”. thescottishsun.co.uk/news/scottish-…
